The illustrations are glorious. The animals are so cute. The whole large family is adorable.I thought I’d be more engaged in the story than I was. The premise of the story is that a family (mother, two daughters, many animals) gets evicted on Christmas Eve and have to move to an abandoned barn, with the help of all animals and humans. I thought the story would tug at my heartstrings. But, if it wasn’t for the description on the inside cover I wouldn’t have really fully gotten what was goin [...]
Enjoyed the illustrations very much! The story is wonderful too. I like the mostly wordless concept, that each of the family members worked together and the idea of a devastating situation was changed into a happy outcome; great lessons for students.
Beautiful, realistic art
The pictures in this book are beautiful. Did a unit on stories without words and had students write their own story from the pictures. Here is a sample of a story wrtten about this book: The Christmas We Moved to the BarnIt was a beautiful, clear, sunny day when we got the letter. The weather was beautiful. I wished the postman a Merry Christmas when I got the mail. I was horrified when I opened the letter. It said that we had to move by Christmas Eve. Today WAS Christmas Eve!When I got into the [...]

In this sad, yet beautiful story, a woman named Taffy is totally excited for christmas when she and her family are told the night before christmas that they are being evicted and must leave by midnight. The illustrations are beautiful and do an amazing job of showing the sadness and some scenes, and excitement in others. The story does not have a ton of wording, but it is filled with a rich, realistic character filled plot in which elementary aged children can still understand and be interested [...]
A favorite picture book, with rich watercolors by artist Alexandra Day that tells the story of a family who is evicted from their home on Christmas eve. All of the family, including those with fur and feathers, paws, claws and hooves, helps to move to a barne. They take, of course, only the most important things. We spent lots of time pouring over the detailed illustrations. A beautiful book with a wonderful message.
I'm not sure I would have taken being evicted as well as this lady did. In fact, I'm almost certain that I wouldn't have taken it this well. I would have been angry. But the main character here just took the whole experience in stride and made do. There's something admirable about that, and a bit crazy too. I suppose the admirable angle was what they were really after though.
This wonderful Christmas story is illustrated by Alexandra Day!Each picture is like a Christmas gift that you get to unwrap over and over again!I couldn't find Carl. Is he hiding in one of the pictures and I didn't see him?
I didn't like it much because it only has four sentences in the whole book. But the pictures were nice.
It was okay. ⭐️⭐️
The illustrations are delightful. A book with no words, the pictures tell the whole story.
