      Reading the stories in order from the beginning makes me wonder how Archie ever got off the ground. On the plus side, this volume has all of the early issues you simply can't get in one place.

      You learn all sorts of things from the first issues of a legendary comic. Who knew Grundy was the first principal of Riverdale? Did you know that Betty's parents first closely resembled the Lodges (before Veronica was introduced)? And Hot Dog had some competition as the first dog in this series.However, the charm is still there. Archie goofs. Betty still loves the goof. Jughead watches and waits for his moment to help his friend. And the jalopy really hasn't changed much since it's first appeara [...]
