Reading romances sets a reader up for lots of ridiculousness: MOC, marriage as a tool of revenge, secret babies, step-sibling affairs, amnesia, NO therapy ever, mistresses, evil OW, 6’ 2”/6’ 3’/6’ 4’ tycoons of Mediterranean descent etc. This has a different kind of ridiculousness. Two very nice people. On the one hand we have a heroine who is beleaguered with a self-centered sister and mother. They aren’t all that bad, but the heroine is the calm center of the storm. The H is a bet [...]

Posted on Book Chelle.I have always been attracted to the nice guy with a hidden dark streak. He would be nice and presentable on the outside, but rebellious and unruly on the inside. Why? I felt I that this way, I would have the best of both worlds. But it doesn't always work this way, does it? In the end, one of the traits takes over like an epic battle being won over the years. In No More Mr. Nice Guy, Greene shows me just that. Carroll Laker's sister just announcement to her fiance. One who [...]

There's nothing quite like an exhilarating read with a strong alpha male. Goodness knows that I look forward to all that dangerous yummy hotness but what about my "good guy" heroes? Give me a good guy any day of the week and I will be happy. However, finding some dependable cute guys is a bit hard to find in a romance novel. That is, until now. Alan's is your ordinary every day dependable, cute and loyal pediatrician. Whoa, wait, he's a doctor? Oh yeah! He's the established good guy who is tired [...]

No More Mr Nice Guy was a very quick read. It is more along the lines of a short book, or novella. That said, No More Mr Nice Guy fully tells the story of an uncommon romance between two very normal people. Carroll is the girl next door type, she has everything together. She is a speech therapist who wants a stable marriage and a family. Alan is the almost too perfect man in this picture. When Alan feels he is losing his relationship with Carroll, he decides to spice things up to win her over. T [...]

When two 'boring' people begin to worry that they're too boring to interest each other for a lifetime, they start to question their relationship. Caroll loves her more adventurous sister, but when she shows up, out of the blue, with her dark, mysterious, and oh-so-exciting, fiancé, Caro can't help wondering if she's missing out on life. Her stead-fast, pediatrician boyfriend, Alan, sees the longing in her eyes and decides to sweep her off her feet. They haven't slept together yet, and though he [...]

Reviewed at:Over A Cuppa TeaDate reviewed: 23 May 2011Review link: cleffairy.wordpress/2011/05/23/no-more-mr-nice-guyI've been a fan of Jennifer Greene's writing for quite some time now. Her works are always close to reality and this one in particular is no difference. No More Mr. Nice guy reflect pretty much on the reality where women needs excitements in life and not to mention tends to be attracted to men who are wild, lively and daring. This book also addresses female insecurities and instinct [...]

When I requested the book on NetGalley, I was thinking that the book would be a funny and sexy contemporary romance… And it’s not. Although it’s well written by the author, I was hoping for more.Carroll Laker is a typical good girl with the perfect boyfriend, until the day that her sister comes back from Quebec with a hot fiancé - the dream of every woman. Then she starts to rethink about her relationship with her boyfriend Alan, if he’s the right guy or not. Alan is the typical “too [...]

Well, this could have been way better. But, major disappointment was Carroll's character. She seemed too much of perfect daughter kinda woman. I normally understand those types of characters but I couldn't get that feeling from her. What made her this way even before what happened with her ex? Other than that, I really wished the story would have that "awwww" moments but there wasn't. But I gotta admire J. Greene's efforts for acknowledging how sweet guys can be the perfect partners as well.

Jennifer Greene, even this book was written in the '80s, you can not tell from this re-issue. I know there have been edits to get it up to date, but what was good then is still good now.I loved Alan and him trying to 'step out of his comfort zone'. It was fun and amusing, especially with how bewildered Carroll was about it all.I adored this short story and hope to read more from Jennifer Greene soon.

Got from NetGalley

The first Jennifer Greene book that I didn't really care either way for. It was a fast easy read but I could have gone without that one.
