This book is probably a great introduction to raw food dieting if you decide to go that way. It has a good section at the beginning explaining the basics of raw food dieting, then goes into 3 plans: weekend, week and life so you can start out slowly and expand into more and more raw food. My husband has been "going Paleo" and I think some of this will fit in very nicely. There are some very interesting recipes and the book itself is very nice with a beautiful photo of each recipe.I find it easie [...]

This was a good introductory book to the Raw Food Diet. It explained the reasoning behind going raw, provided recipes and encouragement. However, the whole introductory chapter was full of faulty science without any scientific references to back up their claims. I was excited to get past that part and get to the recipes. The desserts looked divine, salads marvelous. The rest was really way too complicated and not very appealing. Everything either had to be dehydrated for hours or three different [...]

This is a great book for anyone looking to start a raw food diet or to begin eating healthier in general. The beginning lays the foundation for why you should be consuming raw foods, and provides a list of ingredients you should have stocked for healthier eating. If you are serious about switching to a raw food diet or eating a healthy diet without processed junk, then you should have most of these ingredients anyway. Most of the recipes are pretty simple, but some are more advanced for those th [...]

I won this book in a First Reads Giveaway. I appreciated the division of raw food meal plans. The author sets up three timelines: a weekend, a week, and a lifetime. It's nice that she understands many folks won't have a 100% raw diet. I didn't know much about raw food and preparation before I started reading and I think it was an easy-to-follow introduction. The recipes are pretty straightforward and I am very happy there were photos for each one. Even though the foods are raw, I wouldn't consi [...]

I received this book for free from first reads giveaway. This book has intrigued me and has fostered a desire to begin a raw food diet. I found most of the recipes looked appealing and could imagine my body feeling pleased after having a lettuce wrap with herb & sun dried tomato pâté, instead of the microwave chicken nuggets I was eating while reading this book. Unfortunately, the horror I felt when the author recommended removing dairy from my diet convinced me that a raw diet isn't for [...]

Thanks to everyone who had a hand in giving me this book. I am hoping that it will help me feed my husband. He has decided to follow this modified paleo sometimes raw food diet and I was running out of ideas to feed him. This has give me some more options along that road. I have bookmarked several to try and have asked him to take a look and see what appeals to him, then I will make a trek to the local natural food and healthcare store to pick up what we don't have. I am thankful I won this book [...]

I won this book through a Giveaway. I do not follow a raw foods diet, but I'm not opposed to trying raw foods recipes either. This book has some very good looking recipes (I particularly liked the recipes for snack bars and the desserts), yet there were also some that did not look appealing to me at allwhich I suppose is expected if any cookbook. Also, there were ingredients listed in many of the recipes that would be very hard to find at a typical grocery store and would also be expensive to p [...]

I received a copy as part of a giveaway. Well written. The portions on how, what, and why are concisely written and point nicely to a wide variety of recipes.I try to eat healthy, lots of fruit and raw veggies. However, my list of recipes is limited as well as, I'm not one for trial and error. So a bunch of nice looking recipes is what I need. Also, there is a whole area on replacements for sugars without going Pharma.Great book and I'm looking forward to trying some of the wraps. (recipe for m [...]

I won this book as part of a giveaway.I don't necessarily follow a raw food or vegetarian diet, but I also don't eat a lot of meat so this book was good for me. The receipes are for foods that I would actually eat and most of them are simple to make. All too often specialized cookbooks get too crazy trying to come up with a variety of tastes, but I would actually eat all of these. I would recommend for anyone trying to eat healthier, but still wanting food that is delicious.

I won this book through Good Reads. There are some very intereting recipes in here. My room mate has a very limited diet and I can see where a lot of these are going to expand what she can have. Also my boss is a personnal trainer and fitness instructor who loves to eat healthy but tasty food. She loved it too and is trying some of the recipes as well. I think this is a cookbook that will get a loty of use.

The Raw Food Diet is a well planned book. It has lovely photographs of each dish along side the recepis. I did, however, find the list of ingredients intimidating. Although I do hope to engage the vegan lifestyle, thisbook is a bit too daunting for me at this stage. The book was received from .
