For 5 dollars on , for Kindle. One of my ALL time favorite Authors wrote a new book so of course I bought it as soon as I could. I had really high expectations as I started to read and about a 4th into the book I realized this wasn't what I thought it would be and I needed to let go of my expectations and just read it. I put it down for a while got some stuff done and came back to it with different thinking. I enjoyed it much more then. It is hard to describe Randle's books, I don't want to give [...]
I'm not sure how to review this book. I liked it, even though I was really confused through most of it. It's so different, and much darker, than other Kristen Randle books I've read. I think I need to read it again, now that I know what it's about, then I'll have a better idea of how I feel about this one.
When I found out about this book, I immediately had to purchase it because she is one of my favorite authors. I was a bit surprised that she had to self-publish it because she has won awards with her previous books, but when I started reading this, I could understand why. Kristen D. Randle's books are built upon memories. That sort of feeling of adolescence and not fitting into your own skin, without the urge to having to be in the present with updated technology. There are some books that were [...]
Renny's parents decide they can move anywhere because they can do their jobs from home. After much research they chose a pleasant village in New England and the most dreamy house close to the ocean, surrounded by flowers, a garage that looks like a barn, a deep front porch with a two person swing, a low stone wall surrounding the property, a huge yard, lots of fruit trees, and an acre of woods in their property. That is my dream house. It also came with a gardener. A man who worked there full-ti [...]
This was a good, fast book. I love the themes of Kristen stories. She has a depth to her characters and story lines. A bit of tragedy and emotion, but it's light enough that you don't feel depressed. It's humorous and brings to light the realities of a family with challenges that is still capable of living happily through those challenges and growing. Definitely worth the read.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. I love the relationships in the book and of course, the gardener. As is the case with all of Kristen's books, I didn't stop reading from cover to cover and ended up staying up all night to read and finish The Gardener. I'm so excited Kristen is back to writing/publishing her books. Can't wait to read more!!
I liked this book but I also felt like there were some parts that weren't really explained that well, such as Kiplin's connection with Ms. Girbaud and Coach. I liked the fact that we see a loving, close-knit family, which is rare in YA fiction.
The story was engrossing and the characters well formed. I didn't feel like she had control over the story as well as some of her other books - but still very worthwhile.
I really like this author. Good stories. Easy reads. Enjoyable. Must read more of her!
