I often judge a book by how much it makes me want to write, and this book made me want to put pen to paper. These long lined, dense meditations are beautiful in their language and imagery, spot on in their cadences, and powerful. Gaspar is perhaps one of the most under-rated poets in America today.
Frank Gaspar is one of the best poets in America today. He takes on the big issues--the universe, our place in the universe, the meaning of our existence--all without preaching or pontificating. And he does it in language that soars and sings. This book reminds me that we all need to work harder on our poems and to have fun while we do it.
