What a wonderful love story. I know this was written for young adults, but its a good read for almost anyone. Great job.
3.5 starsJust out of curiosity: is it me? Really is it me – only who falls for the wrong guy every time in a book? Goddammit. I received this book for an honest review for a Blog Tour by Juniper Grove Book Solutions. I believe honesty is the best policy and my opinion was in no way swayed. Song Choice: “Train Song” by Fesist & Ben Gibbard, “You Are My Best Friends” by Weezer, “My Lovely” by Eisley, and “Safe and Sound” by Taylor Swift featuring the Civil WarsFirst Thoughts: [...]
What a fun beginning to a new series! It starts out sad, though, as Josie's father has died of cancer and her mom moves them to the city. Josie is having a hard time adjusting. She's in a car accident and wakes up in a foreign land with only her backpack to link her to her old life. She meets Lucius, who first appears to her as a wolf, and then returns as a man. He takes her home and she's surprised when she finds out where he lives and who he is, even before she learns that he can shift into a [...]
Now I didn’t want to give this book three stars but I just couldn’t decided was a choice between 4 stars or 2ree wasn’t a option as I either really liked this book or I felt it was ok. Still not sure though so I decided on 3. the middle optionSynopsis of the bookAfter Josephine Woods' father dies of cancer, her mother up-roots the two of them and moves to the city. Josie hates her city life, but her teenage issues are of little consequence when they have a car accident and she wakes up in [...]
This book was really really good! and the only reason I gave it a 4.5 was because the ending for me just really sucked and also. every stinking time I read a book i always love the wrong guy! So the way this book was written really intrigued me. It was not like twilight as much as I thought it would be. That is a victory in itself right? I mean the whole thing was like something new to take in. The whole story was about a girl named Josephine who was involved in a car accident. She wakes up in a [...]
A copy of this book was provided to me by the author in exchange for an honest review. Josephine Woods is a fairly angst-y 16 year old girl. She lives with her mother, struggling to make ends meet, after her father dies of cancer. While arguing with her mom they get into a car accident. Josie promptly finds herself in a completely different world; alone with nothing but the clothes on her back (and her trusty backpack). She meets Lucius though, a 17 year old boy who is of royal blood-- and, he c [...]
Loved it, though it made me sad in places. Definitely rocks a love triangle.Moonflower is not a typical YA shifter/werewolf love story, despite the love triangle and the fact that it features werewolf shifters. One of the things I love most about this story is the originality. Josephine is just a regular girl, but when she and her mom get in an accident, she blacks out only to awaken on another world. It just so happens that the royal family has the ability to change into wolves. The way Josephi [...]
3.5 Stars Mixed feelings for this Teen ReadAlthough this turned out to be a cute Teen Read, to be honest I thought it wasn't greatly executed! So Josie she's only 16 so I kinda forgive her for acting like a spoiled brat. She's in a car accident on her way to school and wakes up in a different world bearing in mind that she remembers the accident and that her mother was in the driving seat, she wonders if she herself is dead a few times, but it never occurs to her that her mother could be also that [...]
Josephine Wood's father dies of cancer and her mother moves them to the city. Josie hates the city, but when Josie and her mother are in a car accident that seems the least of her problems. When she wakes up she finds herself in the woods of a strange land alone. The only thing connecting her to home is her backpack and everything in it. Lucius Conri, the son of the Marquess who is of the royal bloodline and has the gift of shifting into a wolf, finds her and offers to help her. After spending t [...]
**Given a copy in exchange for an honest review**Moonflower, great concept and flow!I love how it captured my interest from the start up to the last. The characters are also good and interesting. The characters, I loved them all.Josephine, even though I don’t like her much at first but as the story goes I got to love and like her. She’s sweet and the way she interacted to the other characters (especially the minor ones) are realy good. She’s not an opportunist.Lucius, he’s really good. I lo [...]
I really loved this book. Josie is a teenager who awakes after a major car accident in a forest in a different world. As she struggles with finding her way back home, she encounters one of two brothers who saves her from a dangerous encounter. She ends up staying with the brothers and learns of their royal blood lines and shapeshifting capabilities, and then truly finds herself liking both of them. Josie is very likable as a character and I found myself unconsciously rooting for one brother. The [...]
I must admit that I have mixed feelings about this book. It starts off with Josephine she is our 16 year old protagonist who has recently lost her father to cancer. On her way to school one morning she gets into a car accident and when she wakes up in a foreign land. Her Mother who she remembers was driving the car is nowhere to be found and for someone who recently lost her father she doesn’t seem to worry much about her Mothers whereabouts (this is when my mixed feelings started). Anyway… [...]
I totally and completely absolutely loved this book!! This is the first book that I have read by this author and I am hoping that there is going to be a sequel. This is one of those stories that sucks you in from the beginning and has you hanging on unitl the very end. When I was finished with the book I just sat there for a moment relishing in the world that I had just been drawn into. What can I say without saying too much? Josie and her mom have an argument and they get in a car wreck. But Jo [...]
I normally don't judge a book by its cover, but I couldn't help but be drawn in by this one. It's truly beautiful. I will admit that I had already decided I wanted to read it by the cover alone, before I saw the synopsis. The book has a great story line and the characters are very well developed. It was very easy to get into. Josie is a teenager who awakes after a major car accident in a forest in a different world. As she struggles with finding her way back home, she encounters one of two broth [...]
Moonflower has a great concept and flow! From the beginning, I found myself interested in the book. The author really intrigued me with her words. Josephine’s father died of cancer, and by that I was completely shocked, and since I am a cancer survivor, I really understood the pain. I absolutely love Josephine. She’s really sweet. I loved the fact that Johnson doesn’t try to create perfect characters. They looked so real to me. I loved them and all their flaws.Usually I don’t like love tr [...]
I have to start at the end. I just finished reading and I have to say I’m feeling slightly devastated. The last couple of chapters (and the very end) had me going “no no no no”. I’m in no way saying the ending was bad. Actually… I think it ended rather perfectly. But… now it’s done and all I want is to read more about Josie, Lucius, and Donovan. What’s happening to them now????????I guess my reaction just goes to say I became really attached to these characters. I absolutely feel [...]
I really liked this book! It's got a different take on the type of story that I was expecting. Josephine and her mom are arguing and get into a car crash, but when she wakes up it's not where she expected to be!Taken from the world that she knows she has to figure out a way to get back home or just has to learn to deal with her new reality. I really like the way that she is a typical teen, she isn't all macho and ready to face the world, this is more realistic. She has some big choices to make a [...]
I normally don't judge a book by its cover, but I couldn't help but be drawn in by this one. It's truly beautiful. I will admit that I had already decided I wanted to read it by the cover alone, before I saw the synopsis. It was after seeing what the book was about that I knew I had to read it.This book was filled with emotions, many times they were so strong I had to close it just so I could take a breath. I like that in a story, it makes me think.Although I didn't agree with something that hap [...]
*I recevied this book free in exchange for an honest review*It was nice to read a book about shifters where they don't automatically know their mate. I liked the anticipation of who will she pick, what will she do. This was a refreshing book. It was a YA story, but it wasn't juvenile. I loved the story and was captivated by it. I didn't want it to end. I felt the ending was a little disappointing. I wanted more out of it, more from the story. I'd love to see more about the characters. This was a [...]
I was hooked from the very first page. I completely enjoyed this book. The characters were real and complex. Their feelings and emotions were intense and genuine. Josie's life in another world, another time was understandably hard for her to deal with. And although she cared for both Lucius and Donovan, you could understand her desire to go home. I look forward to reading more by E.D.C. Johnson
This story had me swept away into a faraway land. Reminiscent of Victorian times with a paranormal twist. Loved the characters and the distance personalities each had and what they brought to the story. I thought that Josie could have been more real (in a modern teen perspective). She was almost too goodie goodie for me. The heroes were so different and I hated to see Donovan be broken by his fathers will. Looking forward to more of this story!
This is a unique story from the start and keeps you intrigued throughout. It is beautifully written, has an interesting storyline and the characters are described in great detail. There is confusion, instant attraction and conflict as you take this journey with Josie. I enjoyed this book very much.Review by Linda of Fae Books.
Great StoryI totally enjoyed reading this story. The premise of another land and time are one that we all have dreamed about. I wish there was a second book to continue the storyline. Readers aged 15 and up will enjoy this!I chose this rating because the book held my attention 100% and I really loved the characters.
Not sure what to give this book. I was confused at first. Then got really intrigued with the book~especially thinking about how my daughter would like it. I would love to see a sequel to it but not sure how the author could pull that off.
This was a wonderfully sweet paranormal/shifter romance that ends too soon. Like all good books I wanted more. Thank you for a well crafted enjoyable read!******I received this book for free through First Reads.
This was a very entertaining book that was difficult to put down. The characters are well developed as well as the story.
I really enjoyed Moonflower. I enjoyed following Josephine's journey and meeting the other characters. I think this is a great start to a new series!
This was cute. Wish the ending was more conclusive.* Review coming soon. *
The book started out a little slow. Then I started to get into it. The descriptions of the setting, the characters, and the plot were well written. My only disappointment was the ending.
