    About the Author

    Jane Charles

Jane Charles has lived in the Midwest her entire life In fact, she lived in the same house until the day she married As a child she would likely be found outside with a baseball than a book in her hand In fact, Jane hated reading until she was sixteen Out of boredom on a long road trip she borrowed her older sister s historical romance and fell in love with reading She long ago lost count of how many fiction novels she has read over the years but her love for them never died Along with romance she has a passion for history and the two soon combined when she penned her first historical romance What turned into a hobby became a passion, which has been fully supported by her husband, three children and three cats. When not writing, Jane loves to work in her garden Besides trying to find the prefect balance so that something is in bloom from the first day of spring to the first hard freeze, she tends her herb and veggie gardens and loves cooking with fresh produce and experimenting with herbs Someday she hopes to build her dream kitchen so she can cook some of her favorite meals without running out of counter space.

Disclaimer: I know some of the following statements are hypocritical. This was a perfect story, that had some flaws. I loved the writer's style, but her spelling errors and grammar mistakes were an easily spotted, easily fixable shame. The hero stole my heart with his cold heart and arrogant charm. Charles, the author, was so smart to include that prologue which softened him in our eyes. The prologue features the hero, Clay, as a ten year old child pleading and failing to stop his loving step mot [...]

Things to look for in a husband – 1) wealthy & 2) MUST be willing to raise her brothers & sister; although wealthy isn’t as important as long as he can provide for the family. Those are points that Eleanor Westin is looking for since her grandfather demanded she come to London for the season & find a husband. However, she’d rather be in the country with her little family; especially since she must reside in her grandfather’s house & they must live elsewhere.Quiet & ob [...]

Audiobook. A very sweet story narrated by the talented Marian Hussey. It's worth listening to for light reading/listening. This was my first book by Jane Charles and it's a good start to a new series. In this first book, the reader is given a bit of family mystery around Clayton Trent, the Earl of Bentley. Apparently the family mystery unfolds with each book in the series. The first few chapters captured my attention but after that it was just ok. I was anticipating more of a climax at the end b [...]

I really liked this story. The story line was good. I really liked how strong the heroine was. She was not whiny, simpering or stupid. Some people's reviews say they didn't like the hero. I did. He had some father issues, (as his father was a total jerk) but he got past them and was great. There was great dialogue and chemistry between the hero and heroine. Nicely written sex scenes too.I read along via audible and the narration was very good, all the characters had their own distinct voice and s [...]

Book Two: Clay, Lord Bentley. Eldest BrotherThe Trents are four brothers, a half sister and a scandalous couple of missing family members. Their Father, the old Earl, was a bitter, mean, unhappy man who controlled and brutalized his family. Each of the series concentrates on one of the family members as they slowly overcome the bitterness left behind by their father. This book follows the eldest son, Clayton who is now the Earl and needs to overcome the distrust of women that was instilled in hi [...]

Loved the book!! Clayton is looking for a wife who is admirable, agreeable, quiet and does what she's told. If he wants passion and lust that is meant for in a mistress!! This is what he was taught from a monster of a father who is now dead!! Eleanor needs to find a wealthy husband who he can help her with her 4 siblings!! Clay thinks the worst of Elle when he sees her with a 2 yr old. So many missteps by Clay to where Elle's life is endangered!! A great novel with a wonderful ending!!

I'm half way through this book and if it wasn't for the fact that I refuse to leave a book unfinished I would stop reading. Not because of the storyline but because there are so many grammatical errors. I'm making more corrections while reading than I am enjoying what I'm reading.Finished the book still correcting an enormous amount of errors. Truly unfortunate.

I love the Trents!Growing up in an abusive atmosphere, Clay thought he had inherited the trait from his fatheruntil Eleanor came into his life. I won't ruin the story but I am addicted to this series already!

Jane Charles is a formula writer and from the first book of hers that I have read, I've figured out the formula. There is always an evil uncle, or grandfather involved. But despite the recognizable formula this was an excellent book. I loved the characters.
