This book has been sitting on my kindle book shelf for two years. I know, terrible right!! I have not read a fantasy like this in a very very long time, but I was not disappointed. Overall I thought this was a great start to the Core series. The author wrote this first book very good. I thought each character had originality and I think that is key when writing books and plots such as this. In this book I just really liked Cale. Cale was my favorite character in this one overall because of his at [...]

This book was so good that I had to force myself to go to sleep at one o'clock in the morning, since I needed to go to work at five a.m. I was so excited to continue reading the story and couldn't wait to go to my lunch break at work. The story is fast-paced and there was never a dull moment. There's a secret society of dragons in human form who have their own clans and purposes. This is such an engrossing and well-written story about a rider and her dragon. There's more to the rider, Ava than m [...]

I read this throughout 2011-2012 when it was out on wattpad and fell in love with Cale and Ava. It ensnared me from the moment when I read the first line and I can tell you that I've stayed up waiting for another chapter to be uploaded. I basically inhaled this book when I got it on my kindle and I can't believe I found such a good story.

I’ll be honest. I’ve never read a “dragon” book. I am totally devoted to vampires, creepy-crawlies, and fuzzy shapeshifters. Reading about dragons never crossed my mind. But it wasn’t just the beautiful cover of ‘Core’ that hooked me. Combs’ writing is superbly descriptive and genuine. Her dialogue flows smoothly while offering a unique distinction to each character. Ava, the seventeen-year-old heroine, is brought to full bloom by Combs. She is damaged, yet strong. Walked on, yet [...]

**I won this book free in a First Read giveaway, but all the opinions expressed are my unbiased honest review.**I was hooked at the last line of chapter 1. And the book kept getting better and better. I was lost in it and enjoyed pretty much everything! This is a new exploration of dragon lore, and I felt it was very original. I really enjoyed the idea of a dragon’s core and the idea of it being sparked by a rider. Throughout the book as the dragon-rider pair got to know each other, a relatio [...]

I liked Core. It has a different take on dragons. The MC is not an alpha male and is quite sweet. My only complaint is that I wish there was some romance. It might come in the sequel, but the hints were so subtle in Core that I'm afraid I imagined them.

I confess, this is my first dragon (? is this a thing?) book, but if a book is good, it's good. There was so much with this book that it seemed like three different books in one - where we started at was so different from where we ended, but I didn't stop reading it, so definitely a good start. There were a lot of plot points - especially at the beginning - which seemed a bit superfluous, and I would not have missed them if they were simply cut from the story. Obviously, holding out for some of [...]

Cale eyes Ava at a fight and right away, his dragonblood knows she is his. He simply needs to convince her of the same, which will be no easy task, but is a journey worth embarking upon, where the reward is to fly as one: dragon and rider.I'm so glad I stumbled across this book because I rather loved it. It's different from any of the other dragon stories I've read, is full of rich detail and history and honestly, sucks you in from the very first chapter. My one criticism of Core is with the cha [...]

I really loved this book. Firstly it was about dragons, and who doesn't love dragons?! Not only that but the whole fantasy element with the dragons, the different types, their different powers, etc really sucked me in. Sometimes with fantasy novels, the author makes the world far too complex which leads me to losing interest but I just felt that everything made sense and left me wanting to know more.Ava and Cale worked really well together. I love that it was Cale chasing Ava and that it wasn't [...]

Umis book was pretty darn awesome. So different! This is one that you keep finding an excuse to readat pile of dishes in the sink? Eh can wait. *wink* Wasn't sure if I would like Ava at first - she's so hard and jaded - but I grew to love her. And Cale? *Swoon* Actually, I can't think of one character I didn't like (well, except for the ones you're not supposed to like, naturally). Their personalities were well fleshed out. This author can definitely spin a yarn, let me tell ya! There is some li [...]

Um wow! I am so surprised at this book, this was the first time I have ever read a book about dragons so obviously I didn’t know what to expect but I am so happy at how it turned out. The way Teshelle described every scene, every character, made you feel like you were literally in the book. Plus who doesn’t love that a character has your name! LOL. I loved the plot and characters in this book; it was beautifully written with so much details that I loved she added. I’m so happy that Core wa [...]

I really had a hard time starting this book. I really did not like Ava much AT ALL. I actually put it aside and read something else. I had to get away from it to think a bit. Well, I started it back up yesterday and I COULD NOT PUT IT BACK DOWN! I just needed some time to understand Ava a little more. That doesn't mean that she doesn't st [...]

I really liked this, I've not read much about dragons before so it was something new for me and I enjoyed it very much. The main characters were great and the story was well done. I liked that it felt much more like an actual love story than just a typical YA romance which tend to be more concerned with physical attraction than anything else. That side of things moves very slowly and I was fine with this as I was just happy getting to know the characters and finding out more about the supernatur [...]

Not having read anything about this book, I must say, it had totally gripped me from the first lines, even before the first chapter! Teshelle's writing style is really brilliant. You get thrown into the story from the very beginning, no need to built it up with prologues or intros, she gets straight to it.It's very easy to fall in love with the characters and following their struggle, watching them grow, seeing them change, is all totally thrilling.I won't go into the story itself here, as I don [...]

Interesting Dragon storyApparently choosing a rider isn't all its cracked up to be, especially when your choice is human. When Cale chooses Ava, a human girl to be his rider, something that hasn't happened in quite some time, he has no idea what they have set into motion. But when he is forced to choose between Ava and his nest, he starts to question himself. Until the truth about Ava comes out. This book had me hooked, not completely but enough for me to need to know what happens next.

This book is fantastic. It's dragons Done right. From the fight clubs to the action to the adventure to the relationships to the mystery, this novel has it all! Core won't take long to reach the ranks of the elites. I'd highly recommend reading it. Plus, the style of writing is as if it is ready to be a film script. Great story!
