This book was a let down for me. It started out with so much potential, and had all the elements that Jill Mansell is known for. I liked Lottie's spirit, I loved Tyler's character and all the secondary characters were great - to start with. Then the plot got thicker, and the characters became almost comical. The storyline was ridiculous to tell you the truth, what with Lottie not choosing to be with a perfectly decent guy because her children disliked him. I am all with a mother putting her childr [...]

Totally enjoyable in typical Mansell fashion:) This one puts more focus I felt on family & children, which was different but good. It has a more original feel to the storyline. In some places I would have liked to have seen more, such as interactions between Cressida & Lottie and also the ending. I love reading her books because you pretty much know you will end the book with a big smile on your face (and many times during the book too

Leuke chicklit, dacht dat het voorspelbaar was maar ik ben toch verrast! Leuk!

blehI have never read any Jill Mansell books, I see why. It's not that it was badly written, but I just hated most of the characters. The only characters I liked were the minor ones, Freddie, Tom, Cressie. They had some substance and niceties. The main characters were not likable. I never understand movies or books that are written like this:Handsome guy, beautiful girl, talk for 30 seconds and must be in love? Strictly based on looks obviously since nothing of substance transpires between the c [...]

I don't DNF often, but I have to here. The constant POV changes are driving me crazy, the one American character uses British slang more than the actual British characters and everything is just so cheesy. I gave it 100 pages and nothing got better. Maybe I'll try again someday, but right now I just can't.

Um, I pretty much love everything about this book. There were a couple things I didn’t like (Seb and Liana), but they were a necessary evil. This was just such a sweet and wonderful story set in a small town in England. I’m obsessed.

I love Jill's books, have been slowly making my way through her novels. I haven't read anything of Jill's for a while, because there have been other books I wanted to read on my bookshelf, but hers are always on my shelf waiting to be read. Only problem is choosing which one of Jill's book to read next.Making Your Mind Up follows numerous story-lines of a bunch of different characters. Main story (romance) is between Lottie and Tyler.First we have Lottie and Tyler. Lottie is a mother of two, Nat [...]

I love Jill Mansell's books. Almost as much as I love dark chocolate covered caramels. Which is, like, a lot. What Mansell does so well is tell different love stories focused on the same theme, with multiple narrators, in a way that feels fresh. So it is with Making Your Mind Up.Lottie, the main character, has a reasonably content life. Peacefully - although not painlessly - divorced from Mario, with whom she parents their two rambunctious children, she works for a vacation property owner whom she [...]

Making Your Mind Up is a heart warming story that kept me engrossed, made me laugh, teared me up, and in the end made me feel good.I loved all of the characters in Making Your Mind Up. Lottie is the main character who is so admirable and realistic. I just really delighted in her character. As an ex-wife she remains on friendly terms with her ex-husband and his girl friend, as a mother the kids come firsteven at the cost of any relationships she might hope to develop. I really felt for her as she [...]

Lottie Carlyle isn't looking for love when she meets her new boss, Tyler Klein. Living in a beautiful cottage with her two adorable - sometimes - kids in an idyllic village in the Cotswolds, on good terms with her ex-husband and with friends all around, she's happy enough with her lot. But Tyler's perfect for Lottie and quickly she falls for him - and he for her. Unfortunately, there's a problem. For reasons that are totally unfair, Lottie's children HATE Tyler. When a rival for Lottie's affecti [...]

This is not a bad book, in fact when I'd finally managed to get to grips with who was who I enjoyed it quite a lot, my only gripe is that Jill Mansell seems to be trying to put too much into her stories lately and I never felt enough empathy with any of the numerous characters to care too much really. Her last book was a dismal effort - in my humble opinion - and while this is drastically better I still have a problem with the complexity that isn't needed. I much prefer her simpler, earlier work [...]

Jill Mansell writes satisfying stories. Here it is a week after I finished Making Your Mind Up, and I'm sighing with satisfaction at this complete, thoroughly developed, fun piece of fiction. So Lottie lives in a little cottage with her two children (when they aren't with their nice-enough but childish father). She feels chemistry with her new boss Tyler, but her children aren't having it. They behave badly around him, and speak badly of him. So after a failed attempt at dating, Lottie moves on [...]

I absolutely loved this book. I was already a big fan of Jill’s and this did not disappoint.Once I started this book I couldn’t put it down, I was drawn in from the start and without gushing there wasn’t anything I didn’t like. There were sad bits and laugh out loud bits and I loved them all. There were times I really thought it would turn out differently to what it did and it kept me guessing on lots of occasions. The characters were easy to connect with and even had me liking one’s I [...]

This story had my chuckling so many times throughout. It had romance, humor, and family! Lottie had an average life with her kids and she got along with her ex-husband, but what happens when she sees that her life could have more substance? When you make up your mind, do you take your feelings into consideration only since it is your life or do others factor in, like kids, friends, etc? The English background really adds to the story. So many unique characters come in and out of Lottie's life an [...]

2.5 stars. The entire plot is about a woman being with a crackhead instead of a perfectly suitable man because her kids don't like him, but then they spend a couple days with him and love him so now she can be with him. It's enjoyable as long as you ignore the sheer stupidity

I am really loving this book! It is funny. I think it would be great if they made it into a movie! A definite must read!!! Four stars only because I thought the ending could have been even better. Mansell seemed to want to just end it quickly.

My first taste of Jill Mansell! 'Chit lit' is not my usual genre but this book has completely changed my opinion. From the first page I fell in love with Lotties spirit & Tylers charm. I have eagerly been out and purchased 'rumour has it' and 'head over heels' and can't wait to get stuck in!

horrible kids, and friends that can't make up their mind. While I enjoyed other books by this author-- this one I wanted her to find love, and also with her ex husband.

Loads of info dump and rapidly shifting points-of-view led me to giving up on this after six chapters. I've enjoyed other work from this author. Maybe I'll try again someday.

Cheesy with some clever bits. The American character used British slang. Which is incredibly annoying.

3.5 starsBreezy romance with relatable and lovable characters and a quirky narration that often makes you smile.

I have loved every Jill Mansell book I've ever read, except this one. While her writing is engaging, the plot was way too predictable. I felt like I was always a chapter or two ahead of what I was reading. Also, I never thought I would say this about a Jill Mansell book, but it was way too long. My interest was flagging and I was only halfway through the book! The ending was fine, but by the time it ended I really didn't care. Nevertheless, I will still read anything Jill Mansell authors. As I s [...]

It wasn't one of her best, but it was fine.

Jill Mansell books never disappoint. This wasn't a favorite, but it was still a funny, flirty read. It gets 3 stars from me because the ending was a little anticlimactic.

I fell in love with the characters of this story and am so sad it's over!
