Great suspense/thriller! Loved the character of Jake. The storyline was enthralling and the edge-of-your-seat action was non-stop. The only drawback was the female lead’s character. Her actions just didn’t line up in a believable way. For instance, would a seasoned FBI agent jump into bed with a complete stranger, an unkept drifter to boot, within 24 hours after introduction seriously?

FOREIGN and DOMESTIC by A.J. TATAI received a free paperback copy of this book for review.F&D is a mostly enjoyable military special ops thriller along the lines of those written by Vince Flynn and Brad Thor. It is, however, not up to that quality of workmanship.F&D has all of the required ingredients for the genre. 1. A highly trained Spec.Ops soldier, in this Case, one Jake Mahegan, former Army captain whose last mission went horribly bad, resulting in mission failure and the death of [...]

A fun read, once which I thought would not end well, surprised me! The main character is really good and he's easy to cheer for. I also enjoy the loose premise that he's kinda working for the government and kinda not so much (though he clearly his!) The story is really well presented and relatable, even though I'm not from the area. it kept my interest throughout. Very well put together.

Brigadier General A. J. Tata is a retired U.S. commander of combat units with duty in Afghanistan and writes with an intricate knowledge of his subject. His novel, "Foreign and Domestic" is a complex story of Capt. Jake Mahegan's search for what really happened in a failed mission in Afghanistan. There are so many stories to be told of brave Americans in battle and this is one of them.Jake led a Delta Force team into Afghanistan to capture an American traitor working for the Taliban. Something hap [...]

Fairly deep and detailed story. One true warrior, physically and spiritually, against some of the worst villainous characters I've read about ever (not including nonfiction characters). There are traitors, murderers, slaves, good and bad military characters, and a group of evil military contractors (worse, by far, than anything ever done by Black-Ops). Then there is the secondary character, a beautiful and intelligent undercover federal agent who also has ancestral ties similar to Jake's in the R [...]

Tata is a new author for me. This first book in the Jake Mahegan Thriller was very good. The language was calm and no explicit intimate scenes. The story line kept my interest.

The Tom Clancy of North Carolina spy/military thrillers. This one is set on the Outer Banks. Read it. You'll love it if this is your genre.

I excellent military thriller! The first book in this series. Can't wait to read the rest. Will be a great movie too

Love it! If you are looking for a strong plot written by a man with perfect insight into the military industrial complex, this is a book for you. The protagonist, Capt. Jake Mahegan, has the right skill set to be the perfect action hero, and enough personal demons to make him interesting. The supporting cast includes the evil terrorist, the ex-military sellouts, the ace-in-the-hole general, and the beautiful and uniquely talented female civilian. I found the story line highly enjoyable, the char [...]

Enjoyable. Mostly takes place at OBX of North Carolina which holds a great interest to me. This is a NEW author so I was pleasantly surprised that this was so well done. Jake Mahegan was a former Delta Force team leader in Afganistan who set out to capture an American Traitor. Then it all went wrong.

This is another Tata hero "man (with skills) against the world". Loved it! I've read the entire Mahegan series, all were good and sprinkled with truth, made more interesting by Tata's personal military history.

Good readThis will be a series I will continue to follow. I enjoy the good with good characters. Interesting plot with plenty of twists.

Great new author!

Just jumped onto the Jake Mahegan wagon and it is a non-stop ride! Onto the next one.

Pedestrian "spec-ops" super hero confronting an "American Taliban" dealing Jihad here in the US & the Outer Banks, aided & abetted by corrupt private contractors & the highest levels of the Pentagontingly the Quad Cities play a pivotal role in the plotting, but it's just a so-so entry in this genreI'll give this series 1 more chance!

A year ago Captain Jake Mahegan led a Delta Force team into Afghanistan to capture an American traitor working for the Taliban. The mission was compromisedand decimated by a bomb . Mahegan was dismissed from the service. Now he isdetermined to clear his name. The military wants him to stand down. When the AmericanTaliban returns to domestic soil headed by the traitor who ruined his life Mahegan is the only one who knows how to stop him. This is he first book in the Jack Mahegan series. It's not a [...]

“Foreign and Domestic” keeps the reader on the edge of their seat for most of the book. Retired from the U. S. Army, Brigadier General A.J. Tata spins a thriller that’s both interesting and suspenseful. Captain Jake Mahegan is a complex character who has served his country in Afghanistan, but was dismissed. He seeks to clear his name and gets involved. Not only do we get experience a roller coaster of a story, but the reader learns more about some of the young men who are recruited or join [...]

I received this book for free as a FirstRead in exchange for an honest review. This was an interesting and well-written thriller that kept me unsure for a good portion of the book. I enjoy this type of book much more when all the pieces don't fall into place too quickly for me, and this was successful in that regard. The characters were not as fully fleshed out as they could be, but this didn't take away from the overall success of the story line and the excitement.

A book that seemed very familiar. It's the usual terrorist plot, but this one seemed to be going through the motions. It's got the usual PTSD soldier, the usual home grown terrorist, the femme, and all the rest, but nothing really grabbed me.I suspect that Tata tried to do something different, and didn't quite handle it well.

Pretty good read. Book takes place in and around Roanoke Island and the author lives in Raleigh, NC and is a retired general and currently Secretary of Transportation for the State of N.C. Of course, the book is military-oriented, but also involves civilians. It keeps you engaged and wondering what is going to happen next.Read it.

This was a pretty good book. Military fiction isn't something I usually read, mainly due to not having much in terms of engaging stories or selection, so this was a nice change of pace for me and I liked it. You can tell the author knows what he's talking about which helps keep the story engaging. Fans of military fiction would enjoy this book.*won on GoodReads First Reads*

This is a pretty good book. Interesting and informative [for me] as this is not what I would normally choose to read. I would recommend it as I did have a hard time putting it down once I got into it.

I'll definitely read more of his books. Enjoyed the read, though it seemed lacking in some areas. Difficult to nail down - maybe less descriptive detail than other writers in the genre Good story though. Hope to see more from him.

Another American action hero who is modest and unassuming in appearance but who has a whole range of powers to defeat the villains he comes up against in defending America. An excellent read and I look forward to other books in the series.

Very cool thrillerAn explosion after what seems to be a wasted mission, launches a thrillride where the main character not only meets a gorgious girl, but also the enemy that killed his best friend. Loved it and looking forward to read more from this author

First read of General Tata rates 3.5 stars. Want to read some of his earlier works and wish I had been able prior to reading Foreign and Domestic.

This was an action-packed and enjoyable read. The lead character, Jake Mahegan, brought real emotions and passions to the story.

The American Taliban is coming to America. It is up to Delta Force Captain Jake Mahegan to stop them!!

Enjoyed the journey with the action and mystery behind the gold and terrorism mixed together. Would like to see where Mahegan ends up next.

Tom Clancy this is not. Not the best military/revenge book I've ever read. Almost cliche at times, but still enjoyable.
