First time I read this author and you can bet it won't be the last. The action in this book coupled with the development of the MCs and the incorporation of many unique and interesting characters is a complete hit. Mercer and Zoe don't meet under the best circumstances but let me tell you that the chemistry cannot be denied. Mercer is sent to engage Zoe intimately to gain her trust and determine her role in potential treason. Zoe is resistant at first but the pull between them is palatable. I li [...]
4 - "This runs deep Better make sure your ass is covered." Stars! My first book by this author, and I am glad I took the step into the unknown with this one. I love me some romantic suspense and Dawn Ryder, definitely knows how to deliver that with a certain style.Initially I wasn’t sure I was going to get on with the authors writing process, because there are a lot of POVs in this book, and they pretty much chop and change from the offset, you need to have your wits about you and a decent memo [...]
Sexy alpha and member of an elite special ops team, Mercer, is sent to seduce the sister and the daughter of two highly decorated military service men in the hopes to uncover the leak that has caused military personnel to lose their lives. The chemistry explodes between Mercer and his target Zoe, but will he find the traitor before more lives are lost. The clock is ticking…Uber Alphas, erotically charged sexual encounters liberally steamed up the pages in the first of the Unbroken Heroes Series [...]
I love romantic suspense books, but this one just didn’t work for me. The hero was such a big asshole, using the heroine because they believed her to be a traitor and he had to sleep with her to get close to her. The way he wanted her to act like a bitch to him because he didn’t like good girls and how he wasn’t concerned about using her and insulting her because he was just doing his job, and then keeping her safe, disgusted me. There’s sexy alphas and then there’s just domineering as [...]
2.5 starsI received this book for free in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.Going undercover for Mercer is nothing new but being instantly attracted to his mark is. As a special ops warrior, Mercer is used to dangerous situations but trying to uncover a traitor selling military secrets is second to the danger his feelings for Zoe create. Zoe is from a strong military family, her father and brother are both career military and w [...]
ARC received for rewiewGreat first book in a new series. Normally you have to read pages and pages to try and figure out who the bad guy is, but this one tells you right off the bat. It really confused me at first, but then I got it. Mercer and his team are determined and seriously hot. Zoe's a military brat and knows how to get the job done. Fireworks when they together whether in the bed or not. Great cast of secondary characters for future books. I think I'm most looking forward to Thais and [...]
5 He was just so perfect stars. I think Dawn Ryder has a solid fan for life because this is the second book that I've read by her and loved. The story is suspenseful, passionate, engaging and relatively fast paced. It has one sexy, demanding alpha male who who starts off completely mission oriented until he can't deny his pull and need for his target. It has one clever, loyal and sassy female who doesn't realize how much her life is going to change from the moment she meets the alpha male. In sh [...]
For my full review: boundtobeme/2016/03/03/danI'm sorry but I really didn't like this book. Right from the start, this book introduced a lot of characters. But the author didn't go into too much detail about them and that left me confused as to who they were, why they were introduced, and what was even happening in the book. The chapters in this book were extremely long. I believe the entire book only had eight chapters. Zoe's character starts off as a strong willed feminist who can take care of [...]
This is the first book in a brand new series by Ryder and in the first few chapters it starts off a little different then a lot of suspense romance novels that are out. Normally you have to guess who the bad guy(s) are during the book but in this one Ryder hands them to you from the beginning. While I liked this because it was different I really did miss guessing who was after Mercer and Zoe. The story starts off interesting with Zoe's brother wondering who is selling classified Intel on where t [...]
I give this book a 3 1/2 Dangerous To KnowBy Dawn RyderMercer is sent undercover to gather evidence and to find out if Zoe Magnus, or someone in her family is a traitor or are they innocent. In order to gain Zoe’s trust, Mercer picks her up in a bar and uses sex as a means to spend time with her. Neither one trusts the other. While Zoe doesn’t trust Mercer, she still has sex with him .Both have trust issues.Saxon Hale is in charge of the Op. He doesn’t believe Zoe is innocent. Saxon’s br [...]
Dangerous with a capital D.Those who serve the country sometimes have to do things they consider distasteful in order to make sure that they can protect those who serve. When Mercer was assigned the job of getting into Zoe's bed in order to find out if she was a traitor and was helping her family to sell out the coordinates of those who are fighting in the various wars he was at first all for it. That is until he got up close and personal with Zoe. Then all he was really thinking about was his i [...]
This is a contemporary Romance . Special Ops story . Hero is Mercer . Heroine is Zoe . Mercer is in the Special Ops . His crew is told about an assignment . He needs to get to know a Colonel’s daughter intimately . Mercers crew is told the Colonel’sFamily are trailers . So Mercer puts away his gear and he pretends to be a bad ass biker . He goes to a bar and plays to be a stone cold dude. No feelings showing nothing . Zoe goes to the bar with her friend . Zoe just sits down but Zoe's friend [...]
*ARC provided via netgalley in exchange for an honest review*Rating: 3 starsThis is the first book I've read by this author, and for me it was an ok read. I found the first part of the book really confusing with all the military personnel introduced, but even as the book progressed I just still couldn't get into it. The book was filled with plenty of drama and Steam and had enough to keep me turning the pages but I really couldnt relate to our main characters. Their connection was quite disjoint [...]
3.5*I truly enjoyed this book but it was a ruff start. In the first chapter and so I was so lost that I thought for sure this could you been the first book in a series. Then it all start to smooth out and took off. Mercer St. Claire is one hot alpha male jerk that will do what's needed to save his fellow soldiers lives. If Zoe Magnus is the traitor behind the Intel breech, he will do what's needed to make her talk. There's just one problem, Zoe may not be as guilty as she seems and Mercer can't [...]
Sometimes when starting a new series the author has to put a lot of information in the first book to lay the ground work. This usually drawn out an tedious.unless the author is Dawn Ryder. This story was told extremely well with wonderful plot twists and characters full of snark and sass. I enjoyed everything about it. Deception, family values, trust and birthday cake for a bird. Who could ask for anything more.Happy reading.
Dangerous to Know by Dawn Ryder is the first book in her new series Unbroken Heroes with a second book to follow later this year. Ryder has been writing for several years, however this was the first time I have read any of her work. It's a fast paced thrilling romance and it drew me in right from the start. There is leaked restricted information coming from the home of a well respected military family that is causing the death of American Servicemen overseas on active duty and a Special Ops Unit [...]
~ Book provided by NetGalley in exchange for my honest opinionI was meant to read and review this weeks ago, but school and work and life on general got in the way, but hey, better late than never, right? ;)Anyway, here we go.While I appreciate a book that starts of right in the story and doesn't have this whole introduction feeling to it, Dangerous To Know would have needed exactly that. I felt a bit lost. Too many story lines, that I magically should have been able to follow right from the sta [...]
I'll admit that I was somewhat excited to read this novel as military-romances are my new favorite contemporary reads so far this year. Yet, the story itself didn't thrill me in the way that I was hoping it would and for the most part there was nothing overly special about the storyline including the romance. In my opinion the romance itself was overly standard without much effort by either the author nor the characters. The largest fail with the entire plot has to be the sex. I mean this story i [...]
This was a pretty good and exciting romantic suspense story by an author who is new to me. Mercer is a special-ops man who is set to seduce Zoe, to find out if she is the betraying soldiers overseas for profit. Zoe is a colonel's daughter and sister to a soldier, so she knows a lot about the military. She is being set up to take the fall and the reasoning is chilling and filled with betrayal. The story is filled with a lot of action and plenty of sexual sparks between Zoe and Mercer. Their scene [...]
Seasoned writer Dawn Ryder starts her new Unbroken Heroes series with Dangerous to Know. Like any good introduction she sets up her audience with all the pertinent information to set the scene. When the facts were in place this book went off like a grenade! Page turning action infused with explosive sensuality took this work to the finish. A hero who knows when to bring on the sizzle or take charge in dangerous situations will set readers aflame as his mission becomes his purpose when he falls f [...]
This is the first book I have read by Dawn Ryder. While the premise of the book sounded good, I'm not sure the book itself really delivered. I found that there were just simply too many subplots going on almost as though I started in the middle of the book. Also I just had trouble with the main characters. I have read plenty of books where the woman or man is duped in the beginning as part of an investigation. Obviously there is a sense of betrayal and a loss of trust once the secret is revealed [...]
I wanted to love this book I really did but seriously after a while it was all about where to have sex and where to find a place to have sex. Sex! Sex! Sex! Is all I think about when it came to this book and I almost couldn't get past that. The female lead Zoe is tough and because she was raised by her father and hates military guys yet she falls for a military guy. When the suspense story started the romance didn't seem like it was just sex but a little tiny bit of romance. The main evil doer is [...]
I received a copy of this book from Netgalley for an honest reviewI give this 3 1/2 stars. This was a hard book to rate because while it technically was a well done story, with romance, action and suspense, I didn't fall for the main characters. That for me is hard, because it's all about the main characters and then the storyline but in this story I can honestly say it didn't feel like a romance between the Zoe and Mercer, it felt like to characters that were put together but I didn't feel them. [...]
Mercer´s latest undercover mission is to expose a traitor - he never expected the traitor to be a colonel´s daughter, or just how much she´d affect him. When he starts to doubt her guilt, can he clear her name, and who is really the traitor?Zoe didn´t think the gorgeous man offering a ride on his bike to be a threat to her or her family, but when snipers targets them both, it´s time to run for their lives. Can they make it through unscathed?Contemporary romance, action, suspense and fluffy [...]
Sort of confusing. Didn't really get good until the end. Undercover ops, military family, bad guys, and a spoiled rotten macaw.Someone is selling out the military operatives and setting up Zoe. Mercer goes in to get close to her. He will do anything to find out if her family is traitors. Even sleep with her. But he doesn't expect to fall for her. CLIFFHANGER. A bunch of badass special ops guys.*RECEIVED A COPY FROM NETGALLEY*
DNF @ 41%I thought this was going to be similar to Lora Leigh's Navy SEAL series but it just didn't hit the mark. I was almost half way through and I couldn't get into the story. The sex was mediocre. The action was alright. I couldn't connect with ANY members of the team it just felt meh. I have other books to read so i'm putting this one down and moving on.
This book was good not great. had definite potential but I couldn't really get on the boat with either the hero or the heroine. The writing was spot on but I didn't feel sucked in if you know what I mean. The story was full of action, suspense, lots of sexy times but I couldn't feel the romance between our couple just the lust and speaking of that the heroine was way too much of a wilting flower when he seduces her gah that totally irked me! He's so hot and sexy my panties are melting and fried [...]
I only gave this book a two stars because of the series plot. There are some hot scenes between the couple, but the deterrent for me in not liking them is the start of their relationship. It just didn't agree with me. But the secondary characters were actually better than the main couple, especially the bird. Otherwise, it was a good introduction to the seriesif you ignore the couple, that is.
The hero was a jackass. The heroine was a pushover. There were a lot of sex scenes (which I don't normally mind) but they just got to where they felt like filler so the story would be book length. And being called "bitch" is never endearing I don't care how hot he is.That being said the plot was decent and the secondary characters interesting enough that I did read the second book in this series. It is much better. I plan to read the third.
Really good romantic-suspense. This is the first book I've read from this author. I liked it, and I plan to continue with the series. Mercer (don't get me started on the names in this series) is an intense alpha military dream. I liked Zoe too, but wondered, were the parrot parties her only job? I don't recall reading that she had any other vocation. Seemed odd. Well, whatever. Fun read!
