3 stars! I haven't read many m/m romance books with main characters that are already in their late 40s/early 50s - I don't know why; actually it was really interessting to read about Finn and Phillip and what they already experienced in their life. I guess that there just aren't that many books with these kind of characters out there, which made this one an unusual read for me. Finn is living on a farm and didn't have a serious relationship for quite a few years now - his last boyfriend decided [...]

Set in Canada, this story begins with a quest for snowy owls to be photographed for a school project. It leads to two wonderful men meeting and discovering a mutual interest neither dared hope for at their “advanced” age. Finn is a farmer who enjoys his life, but suffers from loneliness living near a small town that doesn’t exactly boast a huge number of gay men, single or otherwise. Philip may be a successful artist, but he’s been facing a dry spell and hasn’t been lucky in matters of [...]

This short story has a gentleness in it -- with a farmer and an artist MC -- I loved how the author described the Eagle Tree scenery as well as Phillip's paintings. I also loved that both Finn and Phillip were in their 50's and 40's respectively; although considering that they were only five years apart, Finn's fear of their "age-gap" (which practically non-existent, come on!) felt frustrating. The ending was lovely

Older MCs! Very seldom do you get an m/m romance with men in their 40s and 50s -- in this case, 52 and 47. Not only are they a little older, Finn and Phillip are also an unlikely pairing: a farmer and an artist. But it works. Overall, an enjoyable short story about unexpectedly finding love.

I'm always looking for stories that fit outside of the well-beaten path, and His Fallow Heart did a good job of taking the road less-traveled. The aspect explored here is two gay men who are a little "beyond their prime", at least according to the world's view of the gay community and even some of the people surrounding the two men.Finn is a 52-year-old farmer, a man who lives in a small town and loves what he does and where he lives. What he has found, however, is that it's hard to find a love [...]

WOW! This story was so well done!Finn is a 52 year old farmer in Canada, he’s been alone for the last several years, and doesn’t see that changing. (Not too many senior gay farmer dating sites!) He’s pleasantly surprised when Philip and his nephew show up in town one day looking to photograph some owls that Finn thinks they can find on his property.Philip is 46 and recently single, he’s an artist who has lost his inspiration. When he and his nephew meet Finn and see his property he think [...]

Deceptively simple language draws you in, and the sweet romance of the story makes you want to stay. I loved everything about it.

More like 4.5 starsI really liked this story, the understated writing style. I'll read more of this author, definitely.

3.5 Heart Review by CarissaWhen artist Philip Connaway takes his nephew out looking for a snowy owl to photograph he never expected to bump into Finn Garrity at a local diner. Then again, he had been expecting to find an owl, and that was a bit of a bust, so expectations are clearly made to be broken. After Finn tells them that he might be able to help with their Great Quest, Philip finds himself strangely attracted to the solitary farmer. They come from different worlds, but there is something [...]

REVIEWED FOR PRISM BOOK ALLIANCE3.75 StarsCountry meets City in this short story about Finn and Philip. There is nothing that Finn likes more than feeling the sense of peace when he looks out over the beauty of his land. He’s lived in other places, he’s worked other jobs but when he is at home on the farm he works so hard at to make a success, he is where he knows he should be. This quiet lifestyle isn’t for everyone and when his last lover left to return to the city Finn all but gave up on [...]

This was a sweet little story. Finn’s a farmer and thinks he’s too old to find the right guy. Phillip’s an artist who is tired of the fakes he’s found and is looking for someone who wants the small town life like he does. When Phillip’s nephew wants to capture a few images of a certain owl, it leads them to Finn’s home town and starts up the delightful tale. This story was well-written. The attraction between the two men was quiet, but there. It was pleasant and familiar rather than o [...]

A Joyfully Jay review. 4 starsThis really is a very sweet story with a little bit of conflict based on eavesdropping on jealous people’s nasty comments. I adored how respectful and tentative both Finn and Philip with each other. And, it was so enjoyable to see that their partnership is not only excellent in the physical sense. Philip loves the peace and inspiration for his art he finds out on Finn’s farm. The ending is an abrupt HEA, related as an epilogue. Honestly, I wanted to have a bit m [...]

05.2016 BotM for M/M Romance.

Beautiful!

Delightful though quiet romance with believable (and yummy) characters.

An offer to help out opens the door to more contact and eventually a beautiful relationship.

3.5 starsThis was a cute story.

Lovely couple, and such a peaceful story! Loved this -- have to read more of this author!
