      'The New Kid' by Liesl Bench is an entertaining read for young kids who are learning to read. Not only that, due to the content of the story it also makes for a very effective tool for parents who want to help their kids with relocation. Moving into a new house, in a new neighborhood, can be a daunting task for a lot of young kids, with them having to leave their friends behind, and other things they are accustomed to. The illustrations by Dave Bench also helps with making the story entertaining [...]

      The pictures in this volume are awesome! I thought they were fantastic and really brought the story to life. There isn't a lot of depth to the work: basically, a kid moves to a new town and is sad because he doesn't know anyone, and then he meets a few kids with similar backgrounds to him who also want to play baseball. But the point of the story isn't the depth, but rather than teaching tools that a parent can use, and this story has a lot of teachable moments in it that parents can use.But, fo [...]
