Kamps scores with Break Away the fifth book in The Baltimore Banners Series.  This contemporary sports romance is perfect for new adult and adult audiences.  After five years, NHL star Jean-Pierre Larocque comes back in contact with Emily Poole, the only woman he was ever serious about. A tragedy destroyed their relationship.  Regretting how they parted, JP pursues Emily in hopes of a second chance. Lisa B. Kamps does a fantastic [...]

Break Away is the fifth book in the Baltimore Banners series. The Baltimore Banners are a hockey team. This is the first book I have read by this author and I just jumped right in this series with the fifth book. Break Away is a story about a couple who went through a tragic event five years earlier and their relationship fell apart. Emily Poole runs into her old flame, JP Larocque at her niece's hockey game. JP after seeing Emily all this time wants to rekindle their relationship, but Emily wan [...]

Having just read First Shot at Love which is a wonderful story about how JP and Emily originally met, I was eager to see how they were doing five years on, which is the setting for this story. Unfortunately, at the beginning of the story, it is obvious that Emily and JP are no longer together. JP still plays for the Banners but Emily's life has changed. She lives with her sister, Monica and niece, Taylor, often caring for Taylor when Monica is working long hours as a nurse. Taylor is seven years [...]

Break Away is book 5 of the Baltimore Banners series by Lisa B Kamps. This is the story of JP and Emily who we first met in First Shot at Love, which is a warm-up (short) story that was included in the Love Happens Anthology but can now be purchased on its own.‘Emily closed her eyes and took a deep breath then slowly turned. She didn't want to do this, didn't want to acknowledge him, didn't even want to see him.’ - EmilyAfter reading First Shot at Love, I couldn't wait to read Break Away as [...]

Break Away is the 5th book in the Baltimore Banners series but it can be read as a standalone. JP and Emily have a complicated history together, but when they run into each other after 5 years all of the hurt comes back to the surface for them both. This is their story as they reconnect and work through their shared pain to finally find their HEA.

3.5 out of 5Although I liked this book as I have the others I’ve read in the series so far, at the same time I was somewhat disappointed. I’ve been reading so many hockey books, mostly because of the HOCKEY but for the second book in a row, hockey actually plays only a very small part of the story. This was the same case as the previous book I read.J.P. Laroque and Emily Poole have a past. Though they haven’t seen each other in five years, Emily still isn’t ready to see him. But when coi [...]

This book blew me away. I enjoy that this series is stand-alone. I haven't read the first 4. I didn't feel lost. There's no entwining story line that had me lost. This book just eases you into the Banners' team and welcomes you. JP was great. There's a special spot in my heart for men that are awesome with kids. Emily, I could understand her fear and pain. I enjoyed her opening back up to life and standing up for herself as JP and her danced around each other. The characters are witty and fun, t [...]

5 Star Read: My absolute favorite and will read again and again. I strongly recommend! It has outstanding qualities. The characters are wonderful and surprising and multi-dimensional. The writing is luring, engaging, and well-crafted enough to keep me interested from cover to cover and beyond. The plot is astonishing with twists and turns weaved into a well thought and planned story. There’s no pretense and romance was well balanced and done entirely correctly with properly distributed amounts [...]

I give this book 5 fangs This is one of those books the ones you really get the feels for. A superb mix of sweet, and sexy you find yourself traveling the painful path of losing someone before their time, of coming back stronger than ever and finding that person that makes your knees shake with just one look. Five years ago Emily and JP were young and in love when the unthinkable happened and they were forced to deal with a loss that nobody is ever prepared for. Hurt and not knowing how to deal [...]

She shoot's, she scores! Lisa B. Kamps Break Away is amazing! I love hockey romances but this isn't your typical hockey romance. Their is so much depth and emotional turmoil to these characters that you don't normally see in a hockey romance. Jean-Pierre "JP" Larocque, Baltimore Banners star player can't forget the one woman who he let walk out of his life years ago. When he happens to see Emily Poole at his practice arena he can't seem to get her out of his mind. Emily's life changed 5 years ag [...]

I have totally and completely fallen in love with this series! Each story not only has a hotter than hot hockey player, it lets you see the players from the previous books and how they are doing. Then add in a strong woman who knocks them on their hockey pads and is able to bring the soft side out of the strong alpha men. This time we get to see what fate has in store for JP. In the previous books he was like a lot of the other players and was going through puck bunnies like breath mints. What w [...]

I received an arc in exchange for an honest review! I'm giving this book 10 puck stars because wow just wow! This is not your typical story with a cocky hokey player no JP is not afraid to show his emotions, truly cares about the people around him and struggles with his job just as anyone does! Then we have Emily whom I fell in love with since page 1 struck by tragedy 5 years ago she is trying to survive with what happened and her family I didn't like her sister until the end (sorry) there were [...]

4.5 starsBest book in the series so far. I think I forgot how silly the first book was which is how I ended up downloading the rest of the series, slowly it has gotten better. This definitely is sooooo much better than the first and Emily's story is different than the standard fluffy stuff. Lots of unexpected depth and emotion. I adored Emily, yes she had strength but it was her emotional intelligence that made her stand out as a character. Can't wait for the next book in the series. Oh and let's [...]

honestly, this story bored me to tears. it was my first time with this author, and while i thought the story line was decent, the pace was too slow and repetitive. not sure if I'll read any more in the series, but i am interested in the other characters.

A Good RomanceThe story of JP and Emily had a troubled past. It took awhile to work things out and realize that they were in love. It was a good romance.
