DNF with NO RATINGWith the utmost respect for the author, I regrettably couldn't finish this book. Sometimes writing styles and prose work for people, sometimes they don't. In my case, I had a hard time connecting with the writing, story and pacing. That's all I'll say, but I do wish the author success and encourage anyone taking an interest in this book to read it.*Copy generously provided by the author for review*
*I received a free ebook copy from the author and Big Ideas Publishing in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my review.*EDITED: 12/30/15ACTUAL RATING: 3.5 STARSI'm a sucker when it comes to vampire books so of course I need to request for this one. When my request was accepted, I was so happy but the book was okay. I did not like it as much as I expected or hate it.Julie Sparks works on a museum. Since she got the job she found herself attracted to Michael, not only her but also [...]
I absolutely adored this novel. The POV is our female protagonist Julie Sparks. She is shy, but grows to be daring and kick ass. She learns a lot of lessons. She isn't all dumb struck in love. - Michael is just amazing. He isn't all stalkish like some vampires.
I'm normally pretty forgiving when it comes to books that aren't that great, but I'm throughly confused as to how this book has so many 5 star ratings. I thought it started off strong, good characters and plot development, and then halfway through it all goes to crap. The writing gets very juvenile and feels rushed, almost like the deadline for finishing was upon the author and she just churned out words. There are quite a few editing mistakes that should be addressed. Overall I was extremely di [...]
So, it's a bit hard to do a type of a vampire that hasn't been done. Well, this author has done it. Michael is a vampire, one with wings which is interesting. Not only that, he's a prince, and vampires aren't from this world. They're a different species, more advanced, and of course feed on blood. Get weird when the vamps decide to come to high school all in an elaborate and twisted plan to take over and save the world. And Julie has her place in it all, which became obvious once certain things [...]
I thought I had read every type of vampire novel out there. Sure, it’s not so different that they aren’t vampires. They are and they have fangs, fangs they can grow and retract. That isn’t what makes the different, though. I don’t want to spoil it for you, so read it find out what makes them different. Anyway, what really makes this novel different is the voice. It’s funny, and so visual. I can’t believe how easy it was for me to see everything that happened. It was like a movie in m [...]
So, I was like, whoa, awesome opening, great lead female character, I really relate to her. Then I was like, yes, yay. And then it was like all over, just boom!!! But what an ending, but OMG there is going to be a part 2. Yes, yes, don't make me wait forever.
Fascinating!Different, original and immersive. Definitely a creative read!
The cover captures my attention. It is different. I read the blurb and that sounded interesting. A statue bursting to life, but, ah, that is not truly what happens. The statue was a layer that grows around the vampire while they are in a type of sleep. Really cool concept. While reading, I would never have guessed that Michael the vampire is from another planet. His backstory is really good and sad. You just can’t help but love him right along with Julie. But this isn’t a novel about a love [...]
Initially when a friend recommended this book to me, i was like great another twilight-vampire story wannabe. After reading the book, i was glad I decided to take a chance and read it with an open mind. The book clearly stands on its own merits and has the makings of a hunger games type franchise. It had the emotional depth of interview with the vampire combined with the narrative suspense of forever knight. Both excellent books that have done well on TV.The main characters were well developed wi [...]
So yeah, a friend of mine kept telling me that I had to read Bending Nature. Whatever, just another vampire novel. I wasn’t going to read it. C’mon read it, she said. Okay, okay, it’s free, I’ll try it. I’m SOOOOO glad I did. No, this isn’t just another vampire book. It’s friggin’ fantastic. There is nothing like it. It’s probably the most visual book I’ve read, yet there is not long paragraphs of description. I can see every seen so clearly, though. It’s like magic, I thin [...]
Meet my new favorite vampireI've always loved vampires, but there are only so many variations of them you can do before things seem to become monotonous and you get bored with what you're reading. Samantha Stone has not only reawakened my love for vampires, but she gave me something completely new. BENDING NATURE gave me something I didn't even know I wanted, but I'm now obsessed and can't wait for more! One of my favorite things was the little diary snippets at the beginning of each chapter. A [...]
I enjoyed the bending nature aspect of this vampire novel. It’s unique. It isn’t like Twilight that different vampires have different powers. Ah, how do I explain this without spoilers? How many vampire novels have you read with a cat that changes into a vampire? Yeah, none that I can think of. It made me laugh a lot. I was thrilled with every chapter. A few scenes made me really sad. It has some parts that are really heart wrenching. No spoilers. Just a great read.
I enjoyed the read. The paper back is 274 pages long and is standard size. I prefer my novels a little longer, but although this novel is a page turner, it doesn’t skimp on story or character development. Some of the scenes take place at high school, which I must admit, I sort of enjoyed. They were funny, especially when the cop arrests Julie. Honestly, this novel is for both females and males. I think both will enjoy it.
I was sent this book for review and I absolutely loved it! At times this book reminded me a bit of Twilight - except this book was amazing! The plot was so original and the characters so different that it made for a unputdownable read! If you are in the mood for a truly unique and easy read this is most definitely the book for you. I am truely hooked and can't wait for the next book in the series!
I am so happy that I found this book. It delivers a new kind of vampire as promised. I seriously could not put it down. Part two or I'm going to hunt you down. Joking. But seriously, where is part 2?
And once again I find myself reading a vampire novel, but this time I am pleased. It's not the same old same old, vampire hunter this or that, no it's good. Even if this book had no vampires in it, it would still be good. Of course, vampires make it better. Great read.
I love Julie and Nox. All the characters, really, even the bad ones, because there is no black and white in this novel. It’s more like grey, as far as the whole good and evil thing goes. You can relate to the bad girl, Venna.
I was hesitant at first, but the book cover is so pretty and the blub promising, so first I used the look inside feature. I was hooked and had to buy it. It did not disappoint. It grabbed me right away and I couldn’t put the book down. I fell in love with the characters. Why did it have to end?
Each chapter leaves with a cliff hanger, which is a bit irritating only because, hey, I need sleep. It’s hard to choose my favorite character between Michael and Nox. Nox is just a side kick, but he is a well rounded character. I feel like I know him. I feel like I know all the characters.
Good story. Good character development. Some deep ideas. Unique. I like the authors voice, but I prefer adult novels. This is still a great read and I know tweens, teens, and young adults will fall in love and read every one that comes out. It's good.
Loved it! I want more. NOW please.
I am so in love with Michael. Okay, not literally but he’s so wounded, yet hides it well. Julie is super cool. I even like Venna, the bad person in the book. I even feel sorry for her.
A well told story. Gripping. I can't believe how awesome it is, really. Must read.
This book is so easy to visualize. I can understand why some reviewers said they hope it becomes a movie. It would make a great movie. I wonder if the author writes screenplays. Great story.
Great novel. It kept me on the edge of my seat, so to speak. A really hard book to put down. The ending wasn’t a huge surprise, but it was a nice twist. It teaches a good moral, too.
Super awesome. I am so readin the second one. Please write a second one.
This book grabbed me from page one and kept me right until the end.
WowI really loved this book and can not wait till second part comes outI recommend this book very very much
I'm a fangirl all the way, and I am going to read this more than once. Michael, Julie, Nox, Tiff, they all rock. I can't get enough.
