Moondancers is a twisted tale of true love and folklore.Josh thought this summer was going to be typical of those in the past - hanging out with his best friends. He wasn't expecting to get caught up in the lives of the new neighbor and her cousin. Alan, Conner, and Josh planned to just observe from afar and not get too up close or personal. That changes while the boys were playing around by Alan's pool. The mysterious new neighbors make their presence known when Conner tries to show off in the [...]

The warmest hearts can melt iceI've been a fan of E's work for about a year now and have thoroughly enjoyed the stories he has spun. Even so, I wasn't quite sure what I was getting into when this book was released. I hadn't cleared up enough time on my calendar to give it the attention it deserved at first, but the more pages I read, the more it drew me in. These beautiful creatures had secrets, and I needed to find out all of them. By the time I was halfway into the story, I realized I was hook [...]

1 Penguin because DNFed at 25%This book just isn't working for me personally. The ideas are there, and they're intriguing; I'd love to know more about the world, but 1. Insta-love, and a HUGE case of it. more than one character.2. Awkward writing/confusing prose.3. I can't connect with either the characters or the story, which is making it drag out longer than I'd like.Therefore--off with you! Your cover is gorgeous, I wish I'd liked you better It's not you, though, it's ME.

I liked the story. A little bit of love and a little bit of horror. Some things were kind of hurried and unexplained, but all in all not bad for a pre-teen/teen

I got this book from the author in exchange for an honest review. This book was a surprising read for me as it is written mostly in main character Josh's PoV. Instead of the main character being something special, Josh is just your normal guy, with normal friends and a normal life. Until he meets someone There is a hidden world of mythical sea creatures and one of them had taken residency in Josh's best friend's poolI really loved this story. The author is quite adapt with the English language, [...]

This review originally published in Looking For a Good Book. Rated 4.5 of 5How often do you run across a classic YA novel for boys? Not very often. Typically, a YA book for boys is all about machismo and action and fighting, but rarely dealing with emotions of love - further propelling gender stereotypes. But E. Van Lowe's YA book, Moondancers, breaks through the barriers and offers up a really enticing set of characters and story.Josh Butters is going on sixteen. His best friends are Alan and [...]

Such a great escape! Moondancers takes you to a fantasy world that you can sink right into. Joshua, Alan and Conner are friends and the geeky guys in school but a new girl moved in next to Alan her name is Alexia and she is the most beautiful girl they have ever seen. When she realizes they are talking about her while they are outside by the pool she and her cousin Lara tease them and when Conner does a cannonball into the pool no one notices at first that he doesn't come up. By the time Josh an [...]

I received this as an arc for an honest review. I hate when I can't give a great review it really bums me out. I wanted to like this book, I really did. The character build wasn't all that great. It seemed really childish most times. To fast paced. Josh was rather stupid lets just put it that way. He had no back bone when it came to his friends or anything else for that matter. Both Alan and Josh kept contradicting themselves. They wanted to be badass at times then others they acted like scared [...]

Moondancers is book one in the new Beautiful Creatures of Beverly Hills series by YA author, E Van Lowe. The summer Josh Butters was to turn 16 began like most others. Josh was hanging out with hos 2 best friends, Alan and Connor, either at the Frozen Yogurt shop looking at girls or swimming in Alan's back yard pool. What Josh didn't know was that he would fall in love with a girl, and not just any girl. Lara, unbeknownst to Josh, along with her cousin, Alexia, was actually just one of several my [...]

Josh Butters is convinced that some kind of monster is haunting the pools of Beverley Hills. Moreover, he thinks the monsters are somehow connected to Lara, the beautiful girl next door that he’s fallen head over heels for. And, boy was he ever right. He soon learns that the monsters are real and deadly, and that Lara is more than just beautiful—she’s other-worldly and he’s her soul mate. The problem: he might die trying to save her, or he might defeat the monsters and have to give up hi [...]

This is another beautifully written masterpiece by E. Van Lowe. Moondancers is one of those books I put on my all-nighter’s list.Josh is a teenage boy with normal friends that steps into a world of mythical creatures and beings that aren’t always what they seem. Did you think all nymphs and satyrs were nice? Well read this and find out the truth, Josh did. Here is your average boring pool hopping summer in Beverly Hills lower side until Alan (aka Best friend) gets a new neighbor. And the new [...]

Eternal LoveJosh was close to his sixteenth birthday and enjoying life. In his neighborhood, swimming pools were common. While swimming at his friend's house, a creature attacked his friend. Luckily, one of the girls from next door saved him. Although Lara didn't live there, she thought the boys were jerks. Josh was really taken by Lara and did apologize. Around this time, there seemed to be a creature hanging out in pools in their area. It had attacked Conner and Josh had seen the creature n th [...]

I received this as a free copy in exchange for an honest review. At first the book was a little slow, and I had a hard time, it seemed another monster in the pool from somewhere evil, we need to kill. But the more I read the more it became interesting. Josh and Lara love had been before they were born, but Lara knows a secret of what will happen if their love should bloom. Her mother on the other hand is very manipulative, and conniving. I didn't like her from the start. Alexi next-door to Alan i [...]

I think this is the first time where I get to review a YA novel written by a man and pretty much revolving around teenage boys. There you go first sentence out and there goes the spoilers.I really enjoyed it, it was a good pace, really nice character I especially enjoyed Josh the most well he is kinda the hero of our story. I also like how his family was written about and their back story. It makes it quite realistic in a pretty much paranormal environment that no one is aware of. The father was [...]

The paranormal stuff and friendships in this book was fun, but romance was beyond lame. Some authors can almost convince you this insta love stuff is totally awesome and believable, but not this one.Josh seemed to have rare moments of sanity where he'd doubt whatever the heck he has with Lara, then revert back to pining and moaning about her.It wasn't that he was attracted to her and wanted to know her better and while doing so, fell hard for her.Nope! One minute he looks at her, next minute he's [...]

All the way through this, I was not sure who was going to die. And I still didn't see it coming. This really brought me back, to being a teenager; I forgot what self centered creatures teens are. This really hits close to home (other than supernatural critters lol) and I felt like this could be me - at least in how Josh reacts. And who he's attracted to. Except he's more courageous. Lara sounds wonderful. ish. Plenty else I did not expect. Thanks E Van Lowe! And am waiting, somewhat patiently, fo [...]

TwerpsThis was too much like listening to adolescent boys rage over girls. It had too many "F" words Of course, one, is too many. All they cared about was getting with a girl and though that IS what they think about it could have been written less juvenile. The story took too long to get going. The story it's self had promise and did pick up towards the end (Or maybe I just started skimming by then). It ends with a cliff hanger but I will make up my own rather than read that drivel again.

DNF- too immature I probably would have loved this when I was 14, back when I first uttered the F word and melted for cheesy high school romances. The cover is beautiful, which is what made me want to read a book I knew was going to be a little young for me. I just couldn't get into it. 10% in and we are introduced to insta-love and the dumb ol' guy friends trope. It wasn't necessarily awful writing for the target audience, but for me it was cringey.
