Although the subtitle to David Thomas Roberts' Unemployable! is "How to be Successfully Unemployed Your Entire Life," it is less a how-to guide than a sermon. Roberts is preaching to the dissatisfied and the hopeful. "Now is the greatest time in history to start a business," he proclaims. And his implied message continues, if you are unhappy in your job you can do what I've done and end up in the top 1/10th of 1 percent of incomes in America. Ah, if it were only so.I am writing as a SCORE counse [...]

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. I wanted to like this book for inviting the reader to question their current employment situation and consider if the way they traded time for money was really paying off for them in the long term, and for highlighting some of the financial burdens we take on (student loans and mortgages) that keep us trapped in jobs with limited growth and opportunities for financial freedom. There are some really good nuggets here, but they’re [...]

While the title makes it sound like the book is a blueprint for how to freeload throughout life, the content and purposes are far different. Roberts’ goal is to demonstrate how it is possible to create and manage your own business rather than spend your life as a functional cog in an employment machine. The one clear and important point of the book that all people should understand is that there is NO such thing as a secure and stable job. The business world is changing at a very rapid speed a [...]

This is an incredibly inspirational book and a great guide for entrepreneurs or anyone who has thought about starting their own business. Roberts is absolutely correct in his advice which is based on what he has learned through his own successes and failures in business. He is also right that it doesn't take a lot of money to open a business. "Bring value to your idea" is his motto. This is the best business book I have ever read. I also stumbled upon the book trailer on the publisher's website [...]

If you had a dime for every time you’ve heard somebody says they wished they were their own boss, you’d probably be a millionaire. For our parents’ generation, as David Thomas Roberts points out in his eye-opening, revolutionary new guide to entrepreneurship, “Unemployable,” the old model was to be a company man slaving from dusk till dawn to make someone else rich. Roberts uses his experiences from over 3 decades to show how you can cast away the old “ball and chain” to become hap [...]

The Go-To book for independenceAuthor David Thomas Roberts is known to most of us as the author of the controversial best sellers PATRIOTS OF TREASON and A STATE OF TREASON - books in which he challenged current governmental practices and took on the state of Texas as the lone bastion of political savvy. He has become a staunch defender and admirer of all things Texas, including her rich and unique history, politics, culture and people, and is active in politics and the movement for modern-day T [...]

I was drawn to this book because of its title ‘Unemployable!’ I just love the title, as it was exactly what my now husband classified me as 10 years before we married when I was a self-employed mum working in his garden – and he was right I could never be employed by anyone else. I love the freedom too much!I agree with everything that the author David Thomas Roberts has written. This book is absolutely packed with good advice. If you have the thirst to be your own boss then this is the bo [...]

WOW! Great read. Well written with great real-life examples. Roberts says, “Success for me is the freedom to do the things I love without others controlling my time, income or schedule, and without worrying about money.” Sounds appealing doesn’t it. He goes on to demonstrate clear strategies for getting to this place. But he does not sugar coat the truth. As he points out, it is hard and, in the short run, will take more effort than just standing pat.He goes on to say, “If the thought of [...]
