I haven't read all this series, but it doesn't matter, the author does enhance some details so that this can be read as a stand alone. The author asked me if I would like to read this, she knows that sometimes i like to jump into a good love/romance sometimes which breaks up my usual genre. It has to be a good one though and I know that Anna Clifton delivers those kind of reads that aren't mushy, too overboard and has a realistic feel to them. This is a story about Sara and Cooper, it does have so [...]
3.75 starsThis book started off a bit slow for me but with the amazing characters I couldn't help but like this book. I love Sara and Cooper. They just work. They have their secrets and hidden agendas but their relationship seems to work for them. They don't want to keep secrets from each other but they have good reasons to. They had some very cute and sweet moments. I had that dopey smile on my face when they were together. They really are adorable. Sara does have trouble opening up to Cooper b [...]
I received a free copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in return for an honest review.Short and sweet review? I really liked this book. Four stars.I didn't realise when I requested it from NetGalley that it was the fifth book in a series but I felt it was easy to read as a stand-alone.Cooper Halligan has just returned to Sydney after a stint working in Singapore. He's a policeman, a detective, who was infuriated when the drugs squad busted a known crime boss for a lesser offense ra [...]
Copping It Sweet, Anna CliftonReview from Jeannie Zelos book reviewsGenre: Romance, I loved Anna's New Year’s Promise and her Making Ends Meet, so was hoping I’d love this one too. I enjoyed it but it didn’t have the same pull for me as the other two reads, and I’m not really sure why that is. I think maybe its that the main leads, Sara and Cooper just didn’t have the same appeal to me, I didn’t feel I really knew or understood them, and couldn't really get too worked up about [...]
Copy received via Netgalley for an honest reviewIt has been a while since I have read an Anna Clifton book, so I jumped in to Copping It Sweet. It did take me a little while to get into the swing of this book (but this was probably more to do with my mood at the time rather than the book I think).I have read the other books in this series (they can all be read as stand alones) so it was good to get a little glimpse into their lives from where their story ended.I love that the characters aren't pe [...]
This one just didn't work for me and I'm not even sure why. The overall story is good and the writing is well done but I never connected with the characters and I think there were too many Aussie-isms for me to really understand everything. The pace of the story was a bit slow for me also. As I said it just didn't work for me but not a bad book overall.
Sara Sullivan doesn't have an easy life. Falling in love with the wrong guy at an early age is now keeping her from really living. Sara is still legally married to Tony and he just got released from prison. Ever since Sara left him she has done nothing but hide. She isn't making sure he can't find her, instead Sara tries to keep him away from the people she loves. Tony will not hurt her directly, but he will hurt her by taking on everyone around her. Sara lives in a small apartment now and has h [...]
3.5*Cooper is recently back in Sydney, Australia, after spending time in Singapore. He's a detective with a large family, including (unofficially) adopted family friend, Sara. Sara and Cooper have never gotten along, although now that he's back home, he's beginning to see her in new way. Sara's husband has a history of violence and has been stalking her since their separation 12 years prior. Because of his history, the police have been trying to get enough evidence on him to put him in jail. Coo [...]
I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. I almost didst read through this book, the start of it made me wonder what genre this was and I had to re-read the synopsis again. However, as the book progressed, that's when the actual story began. I really loves Sara, and her fierceness in protecting those near and dear to her. I also wanted to strangle Cooper on several occasions, as he was the stereotypical alpha male type - always thinking her knows best and is right. The dyn [...]
This book is mix of sweet romance and suspense generated from unwarranted attention from a criminal ex. Sara has put her life back together after her husband went to jail. She is free of him and her son is none the worse for having him missing from their lives. She has her own business and she finally has a tight network of new friends. Then Cooper returns to town. She knew him in high school and he is now a cop, something that won't gel well with her crooked ex-hubby! Sara has secrets and Coope [...]
Quick intense read. I received this book for free from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Romantic suspense is one of my favorite genres. Romantic suspense novels that deals well with real life issues are even better. Once I started Copping It Sweet I couldn't put it down. It was engaging, suspenseful and at times funny. I like that the author dealt with domestic violence in a real and different way. A lot of books about DV feature the physical aspects but few (in my experience) deal wi [...]

How would you react if you were a cop and coming home after having spend some years abroad you find the wife of a crime-boss right in the middle of your family, being best friends with everyone of them? Even worse - the wife of a crime-boss whom you are still trying to prove guilty of the murder of an innocent kid? - Well, Cooper doesn't take it well either but when circumstances force Sara and Coop to spend with each other he realizes that there are more (and nicer) reasons to spend time with h [...]
Marie's Tempting Reads Netgalley ARC Review:Copping It Sweet is one of those reads that is exciting, sweet, and endearing. I love a sexy cop as a hero! Sara is strong-willed, beautiful, wary, and in need of protection and who better to protect her then her brother's best friend? Especially since one crushed on the other! Sara and Cooper blew up my ereader with their passion and romance. The sex was scrumptious and the plot is one a romance fan like myself finds irresistible. The story is full of [...]
This book is the first one I read by this talented Australian author. It centers around Sara Sullivan, estranged wife of a crime boss, and Det. Sergeant Cooper Halligan, just returned from working in Singapore. He is brought back to investigate and solve a crime committed by Sara’s estranged husband. The two are attracted to each other, and unbeknown to Sara, Cooper starts engaging her as a means to an end. Trying to find gather information from Sara about her husband. But that soon changes , a [...]
This is the first book by this author I've read and must say she has a unique style to her writing. The characters are well developedrhaps because it is the fifth book in the seriester a slow start, the story moves along at a fast pace. I'm not sure why I couldn't find myself completely enjoying the story itself, it could be because of the local and unfamiliar Aussie speak, but I just never became emotionally invested in the characters. This is not to say the story is not well written, it just d [...]
Set in Sydney, Australia, Copping It Sweet combines both romance and suspense in a novel about a police detective, his siblings, and their friend Sara, a woman who is controlled by her estranged husband, who is a violent criminal. The romance and plot are both relatively straightforward with no major surprises, so what makes this story unique is the well-developed characters. While both the hero Hal and the heroine Sara are well-described, the supporting cast of Hal's family, Sara's adopted famil [...]
This is the first of Anna's books that I've read, and what a place to start! I love a good cop hero, and Cooper Halligan hits the mark in almost every way. He's also the perfect match for the feisty yet vulnerable heroine, Sara. The book does deal with some sensitive topics, in particular domestic violence, however Anna handles them with a great amount of sensitivity and awareness without it becoming too uncomfortable for the reader.Fast paced and with just the right mix of humour and suspense, C [...]
This book was my introduction to Anna Clifton and read so well as a stand-alone that I didn't realise it was part of a series until I came to write my review. I loved the familiar Australian setting, those little touches that make me feel at home while I read. There was the perfect balance of romance and suspense, raising the stakes near the end to the point that I couldn't see how the characters would survive. Looking for an alpha male cop fix? Here it is.I received this book via NetGalley in e [...]
ARC provided in exchange for review. This is the first book I've read by Anna Clifton. It seemed to start out slow and I was never able to really get interested in it. I don't know if it is because of the Australian lingo or what. The writing seemed good and picked up pace once I was 25% in and the story seemed interesting it just didn't do anything for me.
Had a blast with these two characters Sara Sullivan & Cooper Halliganwill definitely be back to read 1-4 of this seriesn't wait to find out what happened before all that happened to lead up to this bookThank you to the Author Anna Clifton for doing what you do for us Readers :) Hope you have a wonderful Summer :) All the best :)
Sara must try to get away from her husband's influence and business as she comes into Cooper's sphere again as he is investigating her husband and a murder. This books keeps the reader turning pages from the first and waiting to see what is going to happen next. A stand alone book but is a part of a series. Ebook from Netgalley and publisher with thanks.
Cooper may have stamina but the boy does have his limits, ‘I am now, but, sweetheart, I can’t make love to you again. Reject me if you want but I’m not some stud who can do it four times in one night.’ I liked this book, Cooper was both sweet and sexy.
The pacing of the book and the writing style failed to grip me. I liked the overall idea and the general aspects of the characters; I just couldn't connect and truly enjoy this story. *ARC received in exchange for an honest review
DNF @ 45%. I received an ARC from Netgalley. The writing was fine, and I enjoyed the interactions between the characters, but I just could not get into the plot.
WOW a great story that keeps you wondering how she's ever going to get out from under her estranged husband's grip. Really well written and thought provoking too.
