This is a lovely look at the history and 1970s status of heavy horses in Britain and America. While the increased modernisation and depression has probably done away with a lot of the equine activity the author hoped to see, he put great store by competition, display and promotional uses for these wonderful animals. I found this a nice little book to read. There isn't any earth-shattering or 'new' information, but its a nice summary of the history and breeds of heavy horses. There is a lot of American history too, which I liked, but the photos and the drawn sketches are what made this book special. They were lovely. Well worth picking up.
