Such a wondrous most beautiful story which I knew I'd fallen completely in love with. With such gorgeous writing by, Brooke St James, I just knew I'd just adore this most magical series, Martin Family. Alex Martin, she'd grown up and always lived in Southern Louisiana in a small town at the swamps of New Orleans. Only leaving once in her life for business college. But now she was back again. Both her father and Uncle have always been so competitive against each other through their business toget [...]
Fantastic startSo,I accidentally read this one second, but I still loved it! The characters are awesome and the conflict wasn't crazy! Hurray! It had some weird moments, but was very real. I can't wait to read the other books!
😃😃😃😃😃This is a sweet romance with a nice thread of faith woven through it. The plot is good, the storytelling fast paced, and the characters engaging. What moves it from liked it to loved it is the execution of the first person narrative. The writer does an excellent job of creating the feeling that Alex is actually telling you this story over a cup or several of coffee. Happily that is consistent throughout the series. The only complaint is with misses in proofreading that create [...]
I love the sweet and simple goodness of Brooke books. No boy loses girl or girl loses boy angst. I thought her pursuit of Jacob as a friend was perfectly balanced with his pursuit of her, right up to the epilogue. looking forward to book 2!
Loved itI thoroughly enjoyed this story. I enjoyed the location in Louisiana and the friendly people there. I really loved the chemistry of the two main characters. This was a really sweet, clean romance.
This book was my first read by Brooke St James! I loved it!! 💕💕💕💕it was so good and sweet. I can't wait to dive into the second book in this series!!
Adorable storySweet clean romance with lots of smiles. I love Alex. She is such a fun character. Jacob is a true sweetheart. Enjoyed this book.
Quick read-FUNI wish that this book was longer. I loved the wit in this story. It was so much fun to read Alex and Jacob's story. It is narrated from Alex's perspective, and the things she thinks are even funnier than the things she says. There's also a message of returning to the Lord on the part if one character, but that happens behind the scenes. I can't wait for the next one in the series.
Alex is determined to be friends with Jacob and he has absolutely no intention for that to ever happen.I loved them both. I loved Alex how determined she is to be friends with him. I loved Jacob because he was willing to change when necessary. This book is another hit from Brooke St James. I love the way she writes her novels they draw you and make to feel so close and wrapped up with the characters.
Okay ReadI enjoyed this story, but not as much as the previous series, The Hunt Family. At first I didn't really care for Alex. She just seemed too pushy & selfish, and just a little bit silly. I guess she grew on me. Jacob's story was sad & I was happy to see his healing as his relationship with Alex grew. Not sure if I want to read this one again, but in the end an okay read.
Great readI have read several books by the author this was the first one on a while that had a true protagonist And did not follow a formula Have enjoyed watching the author's writing matureWould have loved to learn more about Jacob's retreat to Maine Can't wait to read book 2
Romance, cleanThis had a lovely setting, but some of the writing, just was a little flat for me. I still loved the general story, and would still recommend this to fans of contemporary, clean romance. A fun escape, cute family setting, and a persistent heroine who goes for what she wants in her life. A cute series, this can definitely be read as a stand alone.
I had high hopes for this book and series but I can't even get into it because the main character is so horrible. So annoying and ridiculous. She definitely doesn't come across like a Harvard graduate, more like a ditzy blonde idiot. I made it two chapters then tried scanning over two more chapters hoping maybe it was just an awkward start but not happening.
Loved Bayou (Martin Family #1) - PG13Violence: noneLanguage: nothing offensiveSex: no sex, descriptive kissingOh, my silly, swooning deliciousness! I cannot believe the goofball look I've kept on my face for the majority of this book. LOVED it! I'm already looking for more by this author.
Grab a cup of Coffee and Curl upThis book reminds me of the easy, clean, curl your toes love books I used to read during my teenage and young adult yearsLife has a way of getting us jaded about true love and "fairy tales" but this book reminds me what realistic wholesome relationships feels like. Excellent job by the author
Favorite Quotes: - "Alex," he said once I was looking away. The sound of his deep voice saying my name made my gut tighten and my breath hitch. I turned to regard him over my shoulder, and he stared and me for a second before saying, "Stay." - "I'm not worried how you feel about God right now because I know how He feels about you."
Loved it!This was a very good and fun book to read. This is the first book I have read by this author, but plan to read more. Loved her writing, fun and enjoyable.
