If you don't have a lot of time and are interested in reading a short romantic thriller (90 pages), "Lady in the Mist" is the book for you.Lily Jackson is only one year away from receiving her Phd in psychology. However, after her father's death from cancer her stepmother made sure Lily was without a cent or a means to finish her education. So, Lily accepts a position as a psychological aide for a thirty three year old bipolar man, Andrew Breckenridge, who lives on the island of Shoal Harbor in [...]

I really enjoyed this short story. I agree with other reviews that the characters could have been developed more, the romance aspect could have been played up a bit more but overall I felt the author did a good job of keeping the story to the point, not adding so much filler to make it a cumbersome read.

I really liked this story! I just wish it was longer so there could have been more character development

Pretty good but not great. The main character was not really believable. She supposedly worked in an asylum for a year but "gasped in horror at suicide scars"

I thoroughly enjoyed Winter Frost’s talented writing in her novella, Lady in the Mist. Seamlessly, she brought me immediately into the scene of the misty, rock-laden shores and castle-like home of Breckenridge Manor. I completely adore the attractive and complex Breckenridge brothers and the myriad of complications that come with them. Lily carries herself with enough intellect to make me respect her and just enough flaws to make her real. I enjoyed the pins and needles suspense and the surpri [...]

In only a few pages, Winter Frost delivers a well-written, strong whodunnit, mixed with a viable, complex romance. Between the empowered voice of her narrator, Lily Jackson, and the enigmatic Breckenridge brothers, the characters are enthralling and relatable. As Lily puzzles out where she fits into Andrew's care, the Breckenridge mystery ensnares her. The more she learns, the more she has to decide between remaining as Andrew's caregiver, or preserving her own safety. It's short, but Frost does [...]

Lady in the Mist - A Gothic Mystery Novella by Winter Frost (aka Alicia Dean) was a fun read. I remember now why I enjoyed reading Mary Stewart so much as I was growing up. A contemporary Gothic romance, the only quibble I have with this book is that it was a little short and it wrapped up a bit too neatly because it was short. Otherwise, this was an enjoyable read. The characters fit the genre, the secondary characters could have been a bit quirkier, but all in all, this was an interesting way [...]

Its a nice little story, I think there could have been more to it but it was amazingly quick read. I like the old Gothic mystery novels but this one reminded me a little of Phyllis Whitney. I just wish it had been a little less Mills and Boon. The conclusion seemed to rise swiftly and I felt I wanted more that it lacked something but that was because on the whole it was enjoyable and I like a more indepth story. Still it is worth a read.

Very good mystery. I don’t like “Gothic” books, but I really enjoyed this book. The mystery of the story is the “Gothic” part of it. The parts when Lily suspects Clinton of harming Drew’s girlfriend really had me going. Everything was so believable, it made me want Lily to believe in it also. I was really wrapped up in this story from beginning to end. I was surprised by the ending. I didn’t expect that at all. I would recommend this book to everyone .

This was a free kindle read I found the novella engaging but felt it lacked the depth it need because it was a very short. Had it been longer you could have really dug in to each and every character to their fullest to truly understand the loss of each Breckenridge woman and their loss. I give it a 3.5 to almost 4 stars.

Modern with a hint of gothicQuick read. Story didn't drag at any point. I could picture the scenery well from the descriptions in the book. Didn't guess the ending at all. Well written.

This book, 'Lady in the Mist' is a quick read that has suspense and a touch of romance. The storyline was a good tale that ended with a twist. I liked the characters. Lilian was a good lead. A good in-between books in my opinion.

I've always enjoyed reading gothic mysteries and this one was great. Although it was a novella, the author was very detailed in the descriptions and made me feel as if I were in Maine and got to know the characters. I look forward to more from this author!

Between the spooky setting, mysterious men, curses, and the isolation of the heroine, this is the kind of creepy read fans of ghost stories and suspense will enjoy.
