I really enjoyed reading this book. Especially the main characters were very likeable but also the minor characters were well developed and interesting. Okay, I can't say that I like John or Ross' father Donnach as they are simply not likeable but Glynis, Eva and all the others are wonderful. Oh, but don't ask me about Juliet's parents, they are justwellI won't start because I won't be able to stop rantingWith the book set at the time of the Jacobite rising of 1715 our hero and our heroine are c [...]

I love books set in this time period and this one did not disappoint. As soon as they met I was glued waiting to see what would happen between them. There are definitely some unexpected twists surrounding their marriage and the reasons for it that I would never have seen coming. I loved his siblings and how all the relationships developed between everyone. The ending left me wanting more which is always a good thing.Juliet is a lady that is doing her duty as she has been told. I loved her from th [...]

Lady Juliet Kingston is being sent to Scotland on orders from the king. She must marry into a highland clan to help secure the peace. Ross MacLaren has no desire for an English wife, but his father insists it could benefit the clan. This is set around the Jacobite rebellion. Our heroine is caught between the two sides. Family loyalty isn't always from who you thought it would be. Past friends can be very dangerous. This is a clean historical romance with quite a few surprises and an ending that [...]

I love historical romance books and “My Highlander Husband” by Nancy Pennick was really great. The story is very well written and it captures the reader straight away. The good think about this book is that it feels so real and that made it fun to read. The length of the book was perfect, some historical romance books are either too short for the story or too long and have a lot of emptiness. Here we have a story who fills out the entire book without being too much or too little. You can feel [...]

A clean read, but still sexy and very interesting. Everything you could ask for in a Highland romance story.

A copy of this book was given to me for a fair review.First offI don't seek out Scottish romance, and am not a Highlander historical romance fan. But I found this work highly entertaining. The characters are all well developed, the plot action that plays out is satisfying for those of traditional romance novels, yet there are enough twists to keep the reader guessing. Both the protagonists and the antagonists (and those that switch roles midbook) were believable, and very well crafted; I could s [...]

Juliet’s mother felt Scotsmen were greedy and stingy and not to be trusted . But for the good of God and country she will let Juliet go. King George had given orders that Juliet come to Scotland and married the Laird’s son Ross. The Scots and English had a tentative relationship and the marriage would help bond the countries, hopefully preventing war. Juliet was the daughter of the Duke of Manchester. Castle Glenhaven is where Juliet would now call home. Juliet loved Lord John Alder but left [...]

As an avid Scottish historical romance reviewer, I’ve had the privilege of reading/reviewing hundreds of books in this genre. Nothing thrills me more than to come across a “new to me” author who sets the pages on fire with passion, intrigue, and drama. I sincerely hope others enjoy Ms. Pennick’s writing style in My Highland husband, but, unfortunately, it did not work for me. The overall package presented consisted of a racy, steamy cover and intriguing book synopsis, but I did not feel [...]

This was an okay read for me. The story has a good premise and is entertaining however if you like a romance with a little steam this isn’t it. It does have plenty of suspense and drama, I just like a bit more chemistry between my hero and heroine.
