It’s not often I enjoy a book that much that I immediately buy the follow up. L-2011 (Future of London Book 1) was one such book, so Mr Apocalypse had a lot to live up to. Book 1 was set in an alternative past this book is set nine years on in 2020. It is a future which will probably not happen, and that is not the point. This is a sharply written satire mocking the present. Social media and our insatiable lust for reality TV are all mocked. But at the core is a really well written story and a [...]

Mark Gillespie does it again in the second of the Future of London series. Mack Walker, who we left in the first installment about to get his brains blown out, is still alive and living a miserable fear ridden existence in his parents old home. What he doesn't know is that he's pay-per-view reality TV fodder to the masses outside the wall. This book sees Mack get his mojo back, so to speak. Well written again. Gillespie takes a well deserved swipe at reality TV and the living parasites that pres [...]

Another great effort by this author. London has been sealed off and to make matters worse, the resulting mayhem is being filmed as a reality show. This is a very clever premise and the writer really makes it work. Great dialogue, a plot that grabs you and lots of action. Nicely done!

As gripping as the firstThe book with its references to London life and its view of alternative history fits beautifully into the idea of a post apolyptic world where the media will go all out for ratings and money

Having thoroughly enjoyed the first book in this series, I was eager to get my teeth into this novel. It did not disappoint- in fact I would go as far as to say this book is even better. Set nine years after L-2011 which saw London descend into violent chaos, the protagonist Mack Walker is now in his early twenties and living alone in his parents house in a deserted part of London. The rest of London is a place too scary for him to contemplate exploring. After the riots, the powers that be have [...]

OK I'm hooked! I finished reading L-2011 . and HAD to read Mr. Apocalypse. And that was amazing. This series is so different from other apocalypse books. It's so scary because it could happen.London was walled up in 2011. The people that were left have to fend for themselvesIn Mr. Apocalypse, the year is 2020, and the rest of England , and the world, is watching on live TV.I'm now starting the Ghosts of London.Whew, it is very good,,I highly recommend this series.

Mark Gillespie's second book in the Future of London series was every bit as good as the first one. Actually, I think Mr Apocalypse is better than the first one.The story opens with the scene of a post apocalyptic London, and a horrifying scene it is. A wall built right round London, keeping the trouble makers separate from the rest of England. Imagine the lack of food and basic necessities, and the absence of law and order.Add in a small cast of well developed supporting characters, a bucketloa [...]
