Royce Spaulding didn't have the best of childhoods, and doesn't have any particularly good memories of Christmas during that time. Now that they are together, Caden Foster is determined to make sure that his lover has the best Christmas ever. Their apartment is fully decorated and Caden has a picnic of cookies and hot chocolate ready and waiting for Royce as soon as he gets out of the shower. Caden has one last surprise for Royce, one he spent two months shopping for, and he hopes it will be the [...]
This is a nice little story that follows Royce and Caden first Christmas after they are reunited in When Love Comes Back Around. From the previous book we know that Royce and Caden were highschool sweethearts, but they always hid their love; when Caden's father found out about his son, he managed to force Caden to leave Royce alone. This event was particularly dramatic since Royce had an abusive family and Caden was the only happy memory of his youth. Years later Caden and Royce are again togeth [...]
This was a quick sweet short. I think I would have appreciated it more if I had read the previous works featuring these characters.I read this book on oct 6 but I just reread it on Nov 12 because I finished When Love Comes Back Around which is the short that explains Caden and Royce's history. It is definitely much more enjoyable to read this short again, knowing Caden and Royce. At least now I can understand all the guilt and regret that Caden still feels. And good - he should feel regret. 10 y [...]
Maybe I'm just feeling grumpy today, but this one just flat out annoyed me. Clunky writing, exposition through dialogue -- the two characters telling each other, at great length, all the stuff they already knew -- and lots of telling instead of showing just set me off. This is essentially recap of a previous story (When Love Comes Back Around), plus an exchange of rings and a sex scene under the Christmas tree. That's it. And it's not particularly sexy sex, either. Skip it.
3.5 This is a short, very sweet affirmation of love by an established couple. However, I think it would be better read after the book where they meet and get together, because there are allusions to their past history but you don't know what is going on.
Caden and Royce spend a Christmas not to forget. after those year not being together finally they are together.
Short and sweet.
Sadly I didn't enjoy this one as much as I had hoped :(
