Love Bites is the second installment in Adrienne Barbeau's Vampyres of Hollywood series, and let me just tell you, this series gets better and better with every new book. Barbeau is a fantastic and imaginative writer, breathing new life into my favorite of all genres - paranormal novels. The crime/detective side of the story reminds me of the spirit of the original Anita Blake novels by Laurell K. Hamilton, and the realistic characters are a bit like the Sookie Stackhouse novels by Charlaine Har [...]

This is the second book in the Vampyres of Hollywood series by Adrienne Barbeau. I enjoyed it even more than her first book. Ovsanna, a Vampyre actress and producer in Hollywood, and Peter King, a detective with the Beverly Hills police, are well-rounded characters. The story kept me involved and wanting more.

I was very excited to read Love Bites, the second book in the Vampyres of Hollywood series by Adrienne Barbeau. I wasn't sure what happened to Michael Scott, as he co-wrote the first first book in this series, but I think I missed him. Michael Scott has written a ton of Fantasy and Horror books for both Adults and Young Readers, and I think that his missing talent was something that slightly hurt this book.I found the continuing sexual tension be Peter King and Ovsanna Moore to be something I re [...]

In addition to being a love letter to Hollywood, LOVE BITES is also a trashy romance, a trashy mystery, and a trashy vampire novel. It's a testament to Ms. Barbeau's skills as a writer that the book works as well as it does In someone else's hands, the book would be, well, trash. With so many elements at play, LOVE BITES is sure to both please and annoy just about everyone. Personally, I could have done without all the lusty moments between the main characters. There's nothing I hate more than re [...]

Once you get beyond the fact that famous stars of the Hollywood Screen (e.g Charlie Chaplin, Mary Pickford, Tyrone Powers, and Orson Welles--to name a few) are vampyres with a "y," you've gotten the basic set-up. In other words, much of the talent are members of the undead. As such, we learn that in addition to immortality, vast wealth and the problems that accompany failure to age, that what the passage of time inflicts on these individuals isn't freedom or guilt. Instead, it's boredom.Love Bit [...]

I’ve been an Adrienne Barbeau fan ever since I saw her as the daughter in the TV show Maude. I was amazed, though, to discover that she’s as good as a writer as she is on screen.Love Bites, the second in her Vampyres of Hollywood series, is a funny, scary, tense thriller that demonstrates that Barbeau is more than just a pretty face. Beverly Hills homicide detective Peter King met writer/producer/star Ovsanna Moore during the investigation of a string of brutal murders dubbed the Cinema Slay [...]

I downloaded this from as either a free read for a limited time or a discounted price. I don't recall which one. I thought that with all of the high star ratings that it would have been better but I thought it had too many tangents that went off the story line to explain things and bit enough about the story itself. I'd like to say that I read this one without reading book one so that may have had something to do it I believe that if I had read it though and it was written the same way that I w [...]

Osvanna Moore is a 500-year-old Vampyre and owns Anticiptation Studios in Hollywood. She is the Chatelaine of the Vampyres of Hollywood, whose members include Charlie Chaplin, Orson Welles, Mary Pickford and many others, some alive to us and others dead to us. Osvanna is becoming involved with Detective Peter King, who helped her face some evil other-beastly creatures in Palm Springs. It was during that foray that the detective learned of the other-worldliness of Osvanna.Peter is currently comin [...]

The main character in Love Bites is 500-year-old beautiful vampire who has written, produced, and starred in seventeen blockbuster horror films, runs her own film company and is also the leader (creator) of her vampire clan, the Vampires of Hollywood. Aside from that, she has a romantic (and sometimes physical) relationship with a human police officer, and the two of them battle werebeasts and other assorted monsters who are trying to kill them both. Of course they are assisted in battle by memb [...]

Better than expected. Free Kindle download. The grammar and punctuation was better than most. At first I thought she was playing with the vampire legend too much, but she seemed to know what she wanted to do with it. (Still don't like that they can come out in the day, but they don't sparkle or minimally cover themselves with sunscreen)That said. Vampyre leader of Hollywood finds herself attacked by werewolf. Almost doesn't live. She is attracted to the detective from the last book, but complica [...]

Detective Peter King and 'Scream Queen' Ovsanna Moore are recovering from their clash with a serial killer the tabloids had named the 'Cinema Slayer'. They decide to get to know each other better but this is made difficult with Ovsanna getting attacked by a werewolf soon after the earlier battle. And there is Maral, Ovsanna's jealous personal assistant, who is convinced she needs magic to try to keep Ovsanna.Romance is increasingly difficult with murder, werewolves and magic mixed in. Ovsanna an [...]

Not expecting the second Vampyres of Hollywood novel to be as good as the first (they seldom are) I was very pleased to discover I enjoyed Adrienne Barbeau's latest outing as much as its predecessor. Ovsanna Moore and her clan of cinema legends (all very un-dead) continue to battle the forces of evil, with the help of her human police friend, Peter. I love the setting, the industry chat, the Hollywood name-dropping. I wondered if MJ would rate a mention (as he did in the first book) and sure eno [...]

#2 in the Vampyres Of Hollywood series, this takes place over the course of a week, and begins two weeks after the first left off. In the first book, Ms. Barbeau had a co-writer, here she is given sole credit, and she deserves it.Like the first, this one is told alternately by Ovsanna Moore, the Chatelaine of the Vampyres Of Hollywood, and Peter King, the police detective she met there, but unlike that one, this one does not strictly alternate between the two; there will be several chapters narr [...]

Love Bites by Adrienne Barbeau is the sequel to Vampyres of Hollywood. I preferred the origional but Love Bites is still an interesting read. It starts out with Ovsanna waiting for Police Detective Peter King to pick her up to take her to his parents home for Christmas Eve dinner. While waiting for him, Ovsanna, a 500 year old vampyre is attacked by a werewolf monster. Maral, Ovsanna 's personal assistant, is jealous of Peter. Next, Ovsanna is attacked by boxenwolves, humans who shift to werewol [...]

Perhaps I would have enjoyed it more if I had read the first in the series. It isn't difficult to follow the plot or know what happened in the first book, but the mythology didn't work for me. Vampyre instead of vampire seemed silly, and then Barbeau's version of vampire is a strange mix of shifter and vampire, and somehow different than werewolf. Werewolves stink and are evil, but I didn't see much else difference. And the main character sure is naive and unwilling to recognize what's going on [...]

Who knew there were so many books with this title (as seen on )? Amusing tale of how Hollywood actors and insiders are all vampires, making good use of their vampiric allure. The book mostly concerns the over the hill vampires who have had to withdraw from public life until they can re-emerge as someone else. The story is a moderately amusing detective story with some good wit in the writing and enough insider name calling about Hollywood to be interesting if that is of any interest at all. Over [...]

This 2nd in the series works well as a stand alone. I have not read the 1st in the series and it worked as a stand alone for me. Detective Peter King is a Beverly Hills cop. He meets Ossanna. She is beautiful, owns a film studio and has starred in several horror films. Oh! and she is a 450 year old vampire. Together they solve 2 paranormal crimes. They are very attracted to each other. They do their best to keep the paranormal aspects of Victim's and animals from the other humans including his f [...]

If I could give half stars, I'd rate this 4.5 stars!!! I enjoyed this book very much. Funny, witty, satirical, many laugh-out-loud moments alternating with suspense. A fresh take on urban fantasy. Loved the Hollywood World Building. Having a female vampire in a relationship with a human male cop was a nice change. I liked this book so much that I ordered the lst book in the series VAMPYRES OF HOLLYWOOD even though I know a good bit of the plot from reading book #2 first. Adrienne Barbeau is mult [...]

Probably would have been better had I read the first book (this was a kindle free read for me) but once I got some of the background, which she works in well, the story made sense and kept me hooked. Some of the imagery got a but crude at times, but what else do you expect from a vampyre/were book? It did seem a bit more realistic when it comes to the love scenes than some other books I have read.

BoringI absolutely love to read about vampires and werewolves. Hollywood seems like a perfect place for them to be as well. But I found this book to be the most boring I've read in a while and the pacing is really fast during fights, which I don't really like. This is a series I will not be continuing.

Ovsanna Moore is a strong independant vampyre who is becoming attached to a human detective. They both really want this to work, but there is always some kind of drama and danger around. They do seem to work well together keeping each other alive. As for Maral, mark my words she'll be bringing her own brand of drama back later on.

maybe i expected something different, but I didn't really care for this book. I enjoyed the two main characters, but it seemed like there were too many supporting characters. I didn't really get immersed into the story like i usually do. Maybe it would have helped to read the first one. I hope that if there is a net book that there is more focus on Ovsanna and Peter.

This book is the second in a series written by Adrienne Barbeau. Yes. That Adrienne Barbeau. She did a lovey job of creating characters that I could get attached to and told an interesting story. Even though I have not read the first, this worked fine as a stand alone book. I hope to see more of these!

Excellent bookLots of humor, wild were animals and beasties that roam the night and of course the beautiful vampire and the handsome hero cop to help her with little things. Like killing all the beasties, making love and keeping his job. Great cast of characters, alive or not. Very entertaining and a fun book to read. Can't wait to read the next one.

It was a bit slow at first but I was surprised to find that I was enjoying this light read. It is has tongue in cheek humor and gives a bit of a new spin on the vampire genre. It is enough that I ended up downloading the first book in the series (this is book 2). It is a standalone novel which is nice but I am interested enough to continue with the series.

Second in series (after Vampyres of Hollywood), told alternatively each chapter from point of view of Ovsanna Moore (vamp Chatelaine of Hollywood) and Peter (cop friend who helped her kill evil Lilith in book 1). For me, just the right combination of mystery, bloody battles, sex. Lots of fun.
