The book Will Shakespeare and The Pirates Fire is about an adventure of a teenage boy named Will Shakespeare. He is the main character as the book name is after his. He travels from his hometown of Stratford to London and his journey is one to be remembered. He has encounters with pirates, traitors, and much more along the way. There are new people he meets along the way like John Shakespeare, Dr. Dee, Walter, Beeston, Grace, and Caleb. These are a few of some of the major characters included in [...]
Young William Shakespeare gets involved in a spot of poaching and has to make a quick exit from Stratford. His father arranges passage out with a troupe of players who stop in at Dr Dee's, who was astrologer to the Queen. Much of Shakespeare's earlier history is unknown and Harris has done a great job of weaving possibilities in with known facts and people of the time. Sir Walter Raleigh, Grace O'Malley (the Irish pirate queen) and Lok the Inuit boatman also have roles in the story. Supposition [...]
This one was good; I didn't like the character (who was actually a real guy who served Queen Elizabeth) of Dr. Dee cause he believed in all sorts of superstitious junk and magic, but I loved the writing style and the character of Will. It was action packed and moved quickly. I am interested in reading Leonardo and the Death Machine, the author's other book in the series. OH and I didn't like the Pirate's and Raleigh's occasional cuss words, either. I wouldn't recommend this to YOUNG young adults [...]
This book is based on real life characters during 1500's. The main character is Will Shakespeare a poacher on the run from 'Lousy Lucy'. This book is fast paced and felt a little short. I really enjoyed this book and it only took me 2 days to read it so I was disappointed when I read the whole book.
Great little book! Will Shakespeare as an irascible kid who becomes embroiled in a political plot, and befriends Walter Raleigh and a pirate queen. Well written, full of adventure, plot twists, and mysteries, I really got into this story. A nice way to start off my reading for 2016.
Poacher! Spy! Traitor! witch! for real
