Really a must for everybody! A remarkable and down to earth book about surviving unbelievable conditions.

Her English isn't great, but the stories she tells transcend her problems with the language. I also really liked that she didn't end her story with liberation, but continued to tell the story in Czechoslovakia after the Communists had taken over. It gives a fuller picture of how hard it was to return to life after the war.

Vera also published her mother's diaries under the name A Theresienstadt Diary: Letters to Veruska.
